Just picked up two Crosslocks from Scott of RazorBack Knives, one has a SS handle w/ ats34 blade and one with AL-handles and 420hc blade.I've never seen'em and its gonna be a few days before they get to me and was just wondering if anyone has a pic or a link to a pic?? They where limited edition in 2002. any info would be great!!!
Thanks -Todd

Todd, I stand to be corrected, the stainless handled crosslock is marked is Limited Production 1997 ATS-34. The aluminum handled crosslock blade is not marked. Sorry for the mis info.

Here is some additional information on the metal handled Buck Crosslock Solitaires. I first saw them advertised in the September 1997 issue of Tactical Knives. There was a very short comment that Buck was going to make a metal handled Solitaire in three versions. They were an aluminum handle with 420HC blade, a stainless steel handle with ATS-34 blade and a Damascus handle with 420HC blade. I waited patiently for a few months but the knives never were generally available. This was before I was aware of the Bladeforums and I called several places including the Buck factory for information on them. I got to talk to a couple of people in Buck’s shipping department, I think. They basically told me that the knives were special order only and were all gone. I don’t think this is exactly true but at the time, I put my quest for one of these on the back burner. Finally a couple of years ago, someone asked about them in the Buck forum and Joe Houser replied with some production numbers. These are “about” numbers as I don’t remember exactly what they were. Aluminum handle, about 500. Stainless steel handle, about 250 and Damascus handle, about 100. These are some of the rarer Buck knives and I think many people don’t even know they exist. I finally found a couple in a knife store in Minnesota. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough money with me to buy one. The asking price three years ago was $135 for the aluminum handle and $155 for the stainless steel handle. If I remember correctly, the original MSRP was about $160 for aluminum handle, $190 for stainless steel handle and $250 for the Damascus handle. Hope you find this useful and I hope Joe will chime in if I am really off on any of the numbers.

We planned to introduce a few new Crosslocks, in a limited edition run, that year. The aluminum handled one, the Stainless handled one, and one with damascus handles.
We made about 330 of the 180AA, aluminum.
230 of the 180EM, stainless with ATS-34 blade.
We never went forward with the damascus one because our feedback said it would be too expensive. There were about 25 made though and one of those would be quite a find today! The MSRP was supposed to be about $500.
Sorry i don't have a pic but i hope this info will be helpful.
Take care,

Thanks Joe and Chemist!!!! I'm really looking forward to getting these :D
I'll post some pics W-day :)

Well Todd looks like you and I have some limited made crosslocks. I have one of each still left and after hearing that I think I'll add them to my Buck collection. Thanks Joe and Chemist for that bit of info.
