Greetings,

Pretty much my go-to EDC 99% of the time for a decade, this '04 MiniComm could tell some tales. From heat to freezing, days & nights, and everything in between, this well-loved folder was on my side pretty much all the time. Carried, used, sharpened, loved, depended on. :thumbup:

Blade centered? Nope. Super tacticool early lock-up? Nope. Radical S-Something -super steel? Nope. Ever let me down? Never.:thumbup: (Though I admit, I never did anything uberstupid in an effort to act like a destructive idiot with it either...ie take care of your gear, and it'll last).

Semi-retired now, tho a recent spin on the Edge Pro put a pretty screaming edge on it that keeps it in the rotation.

Cool story man! So, semi retired eh? What has replaced your minicomm then? Another Emerson?

Other than the wear on the blade coating it looks almost new.
 
Very cool! :thumbup: That is a great anniversary! So, for the record--have you had your liner-lock fail? Break the tip? I've read so much negativity about Emersons, one would think that you had horror stories after a decade of real edc use... I carry my Emersons often, and though it has not been more than a year, I've had no issues. Based on what you wrote already, it looks like you have nothing bad to report. Thanks for the post--good to hear something different for a change.
 
Very cool OM! How does that older g10 feel compared to the new? Is it worn or was it just manufactured differently?
 
Very cool to see one that's held up for a decade (not that there was any doubt that it would, given how robust the Emersons are built)! The Mini-Commander is currently my favorite Emerson design too.

Where did your liner settle after all these years? And whats the mark right under the disc?

There has been several G10 changes over the years.

Today's is by far the most aggressive, a true pocket shredder out of the box.

My '99 is built to '98 spec and so has a lot of contouring a attention to perfect fit. It is quite smooth by comparison.

In between these extremes (and years) was a happy medium that honestly is nearly my favorite Emerson G10 (favorite status reserved for the wonderful OD/Desert G10 texture).

As far as best fit/finish detailing, you're looking at them in my post above - very early (1998) or most recent (I'd put it at mid-2013 and up).
 
Cool thread. I've used and abused my mini commander a lot!! The tip is so thick! It's poked and pried and just comes back for more! Very robust!image.jpg
 
Oh yeah. If you look close you can see inscribed FTW in the blade. Lol. No reason other than that's the attitude it gives off to me. Lol.
