OK still a while off,10 weeks.
How many are planning on going?
I am going to try to put back 20.00 a week for the show.
It would be nice if there was some way for forum members to meet.

At Blade 2002 there was an organized effort to get folks to wear their BladeForums tee shirt. A dozen or more of us identified one another that way, and went to lunch on Friday.

Anyone else still have their shirt?

I missed the 2002 show, but I do have my BFC t-shirt. I should probably get a couple of new ones, does 1 Stop still sell them?

Anyway, I'm there from Thurs thru Sunday. Staying at the Waverly and I plan to get in a lot of Pit time. This year is going to be a little sad for a lot of people with Rob Simonich gone, I got my VIP Pass from Rob last year. I'm sure many glasses will be raised in his memory.

I'm planning to go but need some advice.

First, what are the hotel options in the neighborhood? I'd like to try and find the cheapest rate if possible.

Two, how do you all plan on getting the knives back home? I'm not feeling too secure at the prospect of leaving them in a checked luggage. Do the hotels have a service where I can leave FedEx boxes with them on that Sunday to be shipped out on Monday?

Three, how can I get a VIP pass? I'm sick of being among the first to a show yet standing outside the showroom looking in at the many VIPs who are getting first or second dibs at the knives.

I hope to be there again this year. Last year I stayed at a Super 8 that was only 2 or 3 miles from the show. It was $40 a night or so, not bad at all really. I can't help with getting them home, I'm driving from Augusta so it's no biggie for me. I got a VIP pass last year from a generous Randall dealer on KF, keep your eyes open here and there, someone always offers a few.

If you drive just a few miles north on 75 the hotel are much cheaper. It is about a 3 hour drive for me and I know someone who lives in Dalton I can say with.

67 and a wake-up.

I'll be there. . .I've got some beer to collect ! :D

I'll be there for my 3rd straight year.

Last year, I mailed my knives back home. The Waverly hotel (attached to the galleria where the show is held) has a Mail center where they will send your stuff back to your place via fedex or ups. I used them and got my stuff back just fine.

I also had several things in my checked luggage. It all worked out well. I got home with everything. I'm not sure how I'll do it this year.

I live 15 or 20 min. away. No way am I going to show up. If I do, I have to buy GigOne a beer :D.

Table holders get 10 VIP passes to give away. If you know someone who is going to have a table, I suggest you get to them early.

There isn't a bad day at Blade Show. but most of the serious buying is done by Thurs night, there's a mad rush into the show on Friday, lots of people show up on Saturday and I think that's when the demonstrations and seminars start. Sunday things start winding down and it's when the bargain hunters start wheeling and dealing.

For advice if there's one or a couple of makers that you're most interested in find their location before you go into the show. If you see a knife you have to have, buy it. Don't count on it being there when you get back, heck you may not make it back. It's easy to get turned around and lose track of where you saw that very special knife. Other than that I would just say to enjoy the moment, look at the knives, but take the time to meet the makers. There are some wonderful people at Blade Show.

Man you guys go the easy, expensive way! My accomodations for a week in Atlanta for Blade '02 came only to $100 at a campground. Even had a pool!

I wont be there this year guys..as my kids have school functions that I just dont want to miss..graduations and all...but maybe next year fer sure..

I see that there is a post office in the cumberland mall which is next door to the cobb galleria.

From the usps web site

Cumberland Mall Postal Store, 770-384-1502, 1101 Cumberland Mall SE, Atlanta, GA 30339

Turns out that my little brother is having his graduation party the same weekend as the show. :grumpy: Decisions decisions. So even if I do get the time off I won't be there this year.
