OK I know that I will risk Sal flying into Knoxville driveing 35 miles, draging me out in the street and kicking me in the A$$.
Can we please have a forum model this year? One lower end model for both forums.Maybe even something that is all ready produced.SFO still has the G10 police, engrave it and sell it as the forum model or do some of the grey Calypsos.
I would love to see a burgandy Calypso jr done as a forum model but this would require Spyderco to poduce a new run.If Sal is willing to think about this I would be glad to prepay before the run is started. This is probably the only way that they would ever do a forum run on a new knife. To get 300 prepaided orders first.

I think that every forum knife has been a disaster in terms of time and money lost. Experience has shown that forumites (BF Spyderco and Spyderco, com combined)as a group can't swing more than about 50 knives. Even the very small run of 100 Forum Militaries left Spyderco with a lot of unsold stock.

IMO the forum knife days are over.

OTOH, it the Grey Calypso sells out quickly, then it probably wouldn't be unreasonable to petition Sal for a Burgundy Calypso sprint run to follow it. Though with no "Forum" ties.

Personally, I'd like the mini chinook(3" and linerlock). Though if a run of the burgandy c52's came out I'd have to buy one for my collection.

If it don't have a hole, I don't want to know...or should I say a 'spydercO' hole!

Well I wanted a forum Spyderhawk, but I just don't have the money to throw around all the time. I end up picking the Blue Spyderhawk. But it's going to be sad to see the forum knives go.

This concept might be the most realistic. Take a model and offer a different color with no other "affiliation" to create a spl edition for forums. (Remember the grey Matriarch?)

Maybe the "Forumite" embellishment actually prevented some other folks from purchasing...hard to believe, but if they didn't feel themselves to be "Part of the club" they may not have wanted to appear as wannabe's. (I wouldn't want to buy a spl edition knife for the Masons, because I'm not a Mason).

Carlos, I can't really belive that there are an "unsold" Forum Militaries. You can find them once in a blue moon on Ebay for about $160. If there are any sitting around at Spyderco, I would be flabbergasted.

Hey, Carlos, don't be the Grinch that stole the Spyderco forum knife. ;) Just kidding.

Sadly, there is much truth in what you said about the limited number of willing and able buyers of forum knives. We are indeed fortunate that Sal goes out on a limb for us time and again.

When Benchmade did their forum knife (705 Carbon fiber scales w/BC-1 coated blade), we signed-up in advance to reserve a numbered knife. We were able to pick whatever number between 1 and 100 that was not already reserved by someone else. Boy, was that a logistical nightmare for the forum member who kept tabs and the Benchmade marketing person who handled the distribution. Is it possible to duplicate this feat with Spyderco in light of the numbers already assigned to collector club members? (I assume that not all collector club members may want a forum knife--how do we handle that situation?).

I believe that the more we talk about this the better our chances of getting Sal to go along with another of our whims. Personally, I'd rather have that SypderMax (hugo mungo knife with a hole) that we recently discussed instead of another forum knife in 2004. Just my two cents.

i wasnt aware that most of forum knives remained unsold..i tought that those were items really seeked from spydeholics - i've bought all i have found - , infact the few i've seen in ebay were really high priced..

i really would like to find a way, i love those knives, also prepay them is a good solution, but please dont stop that tradition..
