Hi all,

I'm a newbie to the forum and I'm seeking information on a black Wilkinson Sword Dartmoor I purchased on eBay about 12 or 13 years ago. Specifically I'd like to know if it's worth anything and don't know where to start looking.

I just recently started dabling into prepping, bushcrafting and have purchased some decent knives for that purpose. I then remebered the Dartmoor I bought a while back to take to Iraq back then that was just sitting in the gun safe and thought it'd be fun to put it through its paces (I was going to take it to a contract job back then but decided against it thinking it was too heavy considering all the other crap I carried). While it's quite the handful and has the scary saw ridge on top facing you, it nonetheless seems to be the kind of thing that you would want to have if you could only carry one thing and were dropped in the middle of nowhere with just the clothes on your back.

However, when I took it out of the safe, I noticed that while the hard plastic sheath was OK, the rubbery belt hanger was degrading and literally falling apart. While looking to replace the belt hanger, I reached out to Dartmoor Knives UK who seem to be the only people who have parts for these. They did offer to sell me a replacement hanger for about $54 USD (w/insured shipping), but then offered to exchange a NIB satin-finish Dartmoor CSK185, with all the goodies-including a new hanger, for the knife I have - as is - claiming they had sold their last black Dartmoor a few days ago and were looking to get another. While I do see some Dartmoors for sale online (some at unbelievable prices!), I don't see ANY black ones. I honestly like the black one myself, but also don't want to sell myself short if this is something of much greater value. I'm beginning to think this knife may be older than the 13 or so years I've had it for the hanger to be falling apart as it is and, as such, may be a rarer/older, more desirable model.

Unfortunately, I can't find the sale info because eBay only goes back 3 years and there is very limited useful information available online about this knife's history. My knife only has the typical "WILKINSON SWORD MADE IN ENGLAND" stamped on the port side of the blade along with the crossed swords in the background and the "W" in a diamond etched (laser?) on the pommel cap. There are no other identifying marks and I don't have the packaging it came in. It's the black military version and I've got all that came with it except I cannabalized some parts of the survival kit that was in the handle for my emergency kit when I hike.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to find the value of this knife.

My apologies for the long read and thanks for looking and any help you can provide.
