Case/Bose 2006 cotton sampler. Just got this one the other day from a character that hangs out around here. Bone and ATS-34. Kind of unusual blade shape and I was not sure how I would like it but once I handled it I found I really did. Sometimes you hear about the QC at Case. I realize that these Case/Bose collaborations are a special case (pun) but it does show that the Case people can put out a exceptional knife. I know it is probably too early but if any of you guys know what the 2007 pattern is to be, sing out.

That looks kinda familiar.

I have one a lot like it and a few more on order for a couple of other folks who hang around here. :D

Thanks for getting the picture up.

They (Case) have gotten in the habit of waiting until the Shot Show to announce the pattern, but rumors are always welcome. ;)

Looks great. Is it really made by Case, or is it a contract to Queen? Reason why I ask, is that I've been told that Case has had some of their higher end knives at Queen.

I like some of the Case/Bose collaborations also! This one's a nice one! Nice proportions, great handles!
Have the previous ones appeared in BF? I have a couple, the pruner, and the LB whittler, and will post pics if wanted!

I'm pretty sure that they are actually made by Case, in a different facility, or by a different crew.

Dijos may be on the right track. I found this statement about the knives on AG Russell's site.
"Using Tony's designs and under his supervision, a special team of employees in the Case® factory made the first collaboration and each of the six that have been produced since."

In talking to the Case folks a couple of years ago, I was told what A.G. has on his site. Essentially that the knives are made by Case using their most experienced cutlerers.

Most of the Case Classic patterns were made by Queen. In that "case" the name was licensed to Parkers who contracted out the production.

I also posed the question, and was told the same thing. The Case rep gave me the name of the "head cutlerer" and said that this particular crew was very small.

The production slippie world is strange ! The who, what, when, where, and why makes my head hurt ! :D

As Rob stated, in talking with Tony he is able to keep his hands in how these knifes will be made as well as the standards to which they will be made.

A good thing, IMHO. :D

I am fixated on these Bose Cotton Sampler knives, they are incredible. Are these reproductions of an earlier original knife and if they are does anyone have any pictures of the early originals..

Thanks,

Sunburst

They are reproductions. Tony had some originals that he showed me a while back. I think I have seen some Hen and Roosters that incorporated that blade shape in a semi modern knife in the early '90s.

Hey Bastid,

Thanks for the information...The description of the knife definitions listed in the stores selling these knives said as much but I have never seen a picture of one in anybody's collection so I was wondering if it may be a sales gimmick. They must be a rare bird evidently..

I will have to keep my eyes open for a pic or two....:D Thanks again...

Take care,

Sunburst
