I have purchased a 110 that appears to have been made in 2008 ( marked on box ) but blade has no date code markings. Is there a story to this?

It should have an arrow pointing to the right as you look at the tang.

Next to the 110.

If not, you are going to have to give more info...

BMC, welcome to the Buck Forum... How about some pics of the Blade and knife... That would help...

Pack Rat, Maybe at a later date I can provide pictures but, it has no markings aside from the standard BUCK 110 U.S.A. markings. I have several other 110s and they are all marked with date codes except those that are too early to have marks. Could this be a factory mistake of some sort?

There were a few 110's that came out last year that did not have any date markings. Bear Claw posted a photo of one, as I recall.

Thanks for the replies so far. I failed to mention that this knife also has the rounded profile scales and bolsters of the latest knives and appears unused. Box markings

Welcome BMC, I have a 112 w/o a year stamp. Those were done ONLY at the first of 2008.A snafu occured at Buck w/ the ordering and subsequent late arrival of the stamp for the first 08 blades.Buck would have had to indefinately hold production and wait for its arrival. The decision was made to go ahead w/ production and not stamp those blades. No accounting was taken of how many went thru unstamped just the models.Which I think were 110,112,500 and 501(maybe).Then a few days later the stamp arrived and production resumed to normal.I put my 112 up for nonuse as I view it as a limited edition run. There could be 500 to 1000 but its certainly limited.Your free to think of it as you wish and possess it accordingly.DM

Yep, I got one off of Ebay and another one over the counter at a Gander Mountain.

IIRC, the story is, that the 2008 date code stamp was late getting to the factory, and rather than hold up production, some Buck knives in January 2008 ran through without getting date stamped.
