The choices are narrowed to three. Please recast your ballot with the field limited.

Trapper
Stockman
Congress

I will let this one run until Friday.
Concurrently, there will be polls for scale material and steel.

By Friday, we should know what we are after.

Ed,
Do you have any preferences as far as who the cutlery will be for this years knife? If Canal Street's going to be the company of choice, their current blade steel choices for the above knives are;

stockman-420
congress-420
Trapper- 420 or D2 , Moonpie Trapper (bigger end cap)- 440C

I have my doubts that they'll reconfigure blade materials just for us, but if you wants I can give them a call. Figured I'd just add this in case some folks are basing their choice on blade steel. From personal experience I can say that the 420 they produce holds a fantastic edge.

Eric

If "trapper" wins the poll, is it assumed it's a two-bladed trapper? Which blade patterns? Handle patterns?

Mike

I'll stay with the stockman, but if the trapper wins, could it be a warncliff trapper like a Hawbaker?

I don't have any preferences. My thoughts are to ID the ideal and then hunt it down.
Did I make a mistake?

Not at all Ed, sounds like a great idea to me, just figured I'd throw that info in as a heads up.

Eric

I would love to see our next knife in ATS-34, preferably a stockman. Which manufactures work in that material? I know Case and Pro Tech has.

Jay

arent things going a little to fast?

a few days poll for everything is a little quick-some guys dont live at bf

at least thats how i see it- the last 2 we took our time so it didnt feel so force fed

Sorry rosconey2. I can slow way down. I set an n>50 as the last knife had 56 participants (not sure where I read that. )

What markers would you like me to wait for?

i still believe we should find out what canal street has planned for 08-they do a new style very year it looks like-

also find out what steel is available for what style-

and what might be new for scale material-

one person might like a trapper but not 440hc blade steel so he switch's to a congress because of the steel it has available-

i just dont think we should vote till we have all the info

I have emailed CS and asked about customizing options for the selection. I am hoping to hear from them this week.
I think I was looking at it a little differently. More along the lines of, what is the ideal? Can I find someone who offers it or is willing to make it?
I wasn't thinking about Canal Street as the sole vendor if they can not produce what is wished for. I will slow the process a bit. Closing the polls on Friday does not mean that we can not revisit the decisions. That can be done until the order is placed.

James,
If the trapper is the selected pattern, we will need to narrow the specifics down. Wharncliff vs moon pie vs etc.

Wharncliffe Mini Trapper with Ram's Horn or Antique Natural Bone in ATS34 or D2

Could other manufacturers make an offer? Schatt&Morgan/Queen or Great Eastern? Or could a forum maker make a largish run?

canal street has been good to us-they make a heck of a knife- no reason to look else where imho-

as for great eastern- if the jerkit icon was available it would be in use

for most companies i think we would be a bother because there arent going to be alot of knives ,50 or so for the last 2 buys-

also the price might not be within reason if we have a forum member make customs

Does it have to be CS again? They're nice knives & I have no problem with another from them, but they aren't the only decent makers left, are they?
