The Knifemakers' Guild Show was held in Orlando On July 31 thru Aug 3, 2008.
We had a comfortably full showroom.....lots of knives for sale, and lots of Honorary Members (collectors) and alot of other Collectors.

The Gala on Thurs p.m. was lots of fun, food, and beverage.

The quality of knives that new members provided for review indicate to me that there is alot of quality and skill in those who will be the future of the Guild.

The show was busy Friday, and a successful day for many makers. If the economy is slow, those good folks who attended the show didn't seem affected. Saturday was another busy and successful day. Sunday was a bit less busy but still a good day for collectors and makers alike. The cutting competition was well attended

The seminars held by Scott Slobodian, and Gil/Linda Hibben were really well done and enjoyable.

I didn't have any of my own knives for sale ("bum" shoulder has kept me from grinding for a few months), but I got to have the Guild's knives, the 4 "drawing for" knives for purchasers ( privided by Wayne Hensley, Lowell Bray, Ed Wallace, and Twinblades..Charlie and Harry Mathews)....also got to hold the Honorary Members' drawing for the 4 knives that were featured on the program and ad material (provided by Marvin Solomon, Bill King, Warren Osborne, and Gayle Bradley).

All-in-all a very good show for the last one in Orlando before we move to Louisville, KY for the 2009 Knifemakers' Guild Show. Hope you can make it then!

I enjoyed the review and The Guild Show was one of the most enjoyable knife shows I have ever been to. The highlight for me was receiving my voting status in the Knifemakers Guild Friday morning at the annual meeting after Edmund Davidson's committee reviewed my knives on Thursday. On top of that Charlie and I had a great day of sales on Friday. For me it was just a good day all the way around. I am really looking forward to going to Kentucky next year.

I too had a great show, for me it was John Fraps and Gene Baskett. After the mug shot in the link I guess I can't hide any more. My problem with distant shows is shipping home more weight than I took with me, steel and big grinder wheels are heavy! We had a good time.

It was very nice meeting you guys, Harry. You had some very nice knives on your table. I'm still not quite sure which one of you is which:D

Very nice pictorial, and writings, Murray. Thank-You
As most folks know, Murray is a good guy who is a solid supporter of handmade and custom knives. He was a very positive "Ambassador" for the CKCA at the Guild Show.

Exceptional review Murray. Viewing it made me feel like I went to the show.

Much appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter

Joe thanks for stopping by the table. It is always good to meet the guys on the forums. I wish they would wear name badges at the shows with their forums names on them. As far as getting us mixed up, we have good friends that have known us all our lives and still can't tell us apart. It never has made much difference to us. We will answer to just about anything and have. Lately it has been "hey Twin", and that seems to work too.
