Was wondering if there are going to be some changes or new variants in 2009 to some of my favorite Kershaw Knives, like:

Offset
Tyrade
Needs Work
Blur

Speaking of the Blur, I think Kershaw would do well with a line of knife that has the same Blade style as the Blur, but slightly smaller (mini-Blur..?).

Thanks for reading...

Add Cyclone to this list as well :-)

Well we're in the process of finalizing the 09 line-up, but from the ones you mentioned:

Offset - Probably will incorporate a new set of 3-D machined G-10 scales
Tyrade - Discontinued (We'll have done up our 2000 pieces in 2008)
Needs Work - No changes other than 14C28N blade steel
Blur - No changes other than 14C28N blade steel
Cyclone(s) - All models look to be discontinued

We should have everything finalized by mid Nov. or so. Will keep you posted then.

Wow...very surprised about the Tyrade and the Cyclones being discontinued....the Cyclone is what gave me the knife buying bug again earlier this year and I read so many people love that knife. I was hoping for new handles, new blade steels, etc for that knife.

With the "Needs Work" I was hoping for some "Snap-On" treatment with those cool different colored handles.

Oh well, one can hope/dream :-)

with the cyclone being discontinued i vote we have another innovation like the on/off switch. in addition something with TI handles and black coated ZDP blade. RAM anyone?

I too hate to see the Cyclones go...they've made great Christmas/birthday gifts for a while now, and have been the first Kershaw for a lot of my friends.

Guess I'd better put a few away!

How about another TIZDP run before they go, just for old times sake? :)

I should mention that the above are most likely scenarios, but again, nothing is set in stone as of today. The next 6 weeks will flush out the 2009 line-up.

Is the Skyline going to get the "No changes other than 14C28N blade steel" treatment as well?

Also, when do the 09 knifes typically become available?

I just read something about a new/different trac-tec that is going to be "smoother." Is there any truth to this, and if so does anyone have a picture?

No truth.

Thomas, I actually thought the Trac-tec in the Blurs HAD been changed? I thought it was a little less "sandpaper-like". About a year ago I thought you said the Trac-tec had been modified to make it more pocket-friendly.

i just hope that if the cyclones do get discontinued that another knife will be available with an on/off switch for the speed-safe. That was my favorite thing about them.

Nothing planned, sorry PURPLEDC.

Well yea, but like you say, that was done up quite some time ago, it's not new change for 2009.
