I already have Spydies like the Enduras and the big original Manix etc. I've had many ka-bars, Kershaws and a big Becker, and more. Now I see that the 2010 Cold Steel folders are remodeled and quite interesting. Maybe it's time to pick up a Cold Steel folder to try out. I'm wondering about the new Bowie Recon 1 or the AK-47 specificly. or :thumbdn:

I have the AK-47 and the Recon 1 clip point. Both good knives. The CS Recon 1 clip point is a larger folder as it has a 4" blade, the AK-47 has a 3.5" blade.

I picked up a 2010 Recon 1 Clip point and couldn't be happier. The solidity of the Tri-Ad lock is really something that you need to feel and hear to fully appreciate it. The handle just melts into your hand and is extremely 'grippy'.The blade has a good 'belly' and inspires confidence. You can't go wrong with the Recon 1.

Thanks guys. I'm a bigger blade junkie so maybe the first CS for me is the Recon 1,.... clip point.;):D

I too prefer bigger blades. I have an AK-47 and a Recon 1 tanto. The handles are about the same size. The Recon of course has another 1/2 of blade. For me the AK gets more carry because the handle is more comfortable. I'm not saying that the Recon handle isn't very very comfortable, but I just like the AK more. I'm probably going to pick up a clip point Recon 1 soon as well.

So I guess what I'm saying is that you should GET BOTH!! :D

....and probably the American lawman too...

Agreed!

Agreed gentlemen. I will be honest, I owned the Recon 1 CP for about 45 days before I even carried it. I was not a fan of the clip point (I much prefer a drop point or tanto), but I just carried it and I was won over. As A.P.F. states, the handle is awesome and feels extremely comfy and secure. You cannot go wrong with it, great value and tough user all around.
The AL is also an excellent knife, I just sharpened one on the Apex and it's screamin sharp. Here is the Recon 1, it shaves/whittles molecules (can splice DNA with ease) ;)

Cool. I may well get both. I'm also eyeballing some new, old stock Spydercos, like the Rock Salt and the Jerry Hossom Forager. I have pursued alternate interests for a few years, and a few of the old pricier blades are now wayyyyyyy cheaper. The Temperance 2 is rocking my boat big time, but I'll wait until the price tag is a bit thinner. A guy still has to pay the bills while collecting goodies. :)

I've had my 2010 Recon 1 for almost a month now and at first I loved it. After some light use I've found the handle a little cramping for me, but I've got big hands. I think I'll put up my Recon1 clip point for sale so if you're interested let me know.
