Hi all,

Thought I would share this as a WIP hope you all like it.

Well I was asked at the 2009 OKCA April show in Eugene, Oregon if I would make one of the award knives. I agreed to make one and here is what I done with the blank that was given to me.

Here is the blank given to me and my drawing of what I have intended for it.

Here it is after cutting it up and rough grind on the bevels.

I tried my hand at doing my first clay coated blade,

I used a hard silver solder to attach the threaded rod,

I forged a very tight "W" pattern billet for the guard and frame handle,

Here is the finished blade. The hamon is very evident with the eye but did not photograph well so look hard you can make it out,

Trying to show the pattern on the front of the guard here,

And finally a spine shot. I forged this out so the "W" pattern runs around the frame handle,

Mike that is sweet nice all the way around . now make one like that to but up for sale. I think that is a big step in the right direction. Good going my friend.

Thanks guys.

Hey Dave I tried to get out of my rut that we talked about at Blade West. I think this one was the most fun I have had making yet. I did a bunch of elements I have not tried before and I am putting into my next piece as well.
