The 2011 Art Knife Invitational is about upon us, occurring on Oct 29, 2011 in beautiful San Diego, California. Wish it were every year, actually, but it's bi-annual instead.
It's amazing to see the work of 25 of the greatest knifemakers in the world, and of course, Julie's is no exception. I just wish she made more knives, that's all! I believe her total output of sole authorship knives, since the passing of Buster, has been something less than 12 knives total. There have been a couple of threads that have shown some of her incredible talent, so I will only show a couple of the AKI knives I'm aware of. The top one is owned by Jon Klein and the bottom by yours truly.
I've often heard questions of how Julie went into making knives after Buster's passing, so here is a quote from a thread of the past, which will give some perspective. Hope you enjoy the info and images!

"Here's how it happened:
After Buster Warenski's passing, Julie wanted to learn how to grind - in the tradition of Buster - and Lynn Erickson asked his son Curt if he could teach her (Curt was the only one who was taught by and worked with Buster). He and Julie met, he began to show her how he and Buster worked together - and a year later, they had fallen in love and got married.
That was the beginning of Julie's knifemaking career. But as I understand it, she's decided to only make knives for the AKI these days. Her preference is to continue engraving Curt's work and that of outside customers."
