Greetings all,
The 2011 CKCA Calendar is just about ready for release. I know many of you picked up a copy - or several copies - of the 2009 calendar. I sure did. They made great gifts, and the one I had hanging in my office provided a year-long talking point. It seems even non-knife poeple have an ability to appreciate fine cratfsmanship when beautifully presented like this.
As nice as the first calendar was, I feel this one is even better. We started out with 166 photos submitted of the work of 74 different makers. The selction process was exceedingly difficult - but the end result is an impressive asembly of 42 photographs representing the work of 41 different makers. This is a significant increase over 2009's 24 makers.
Here is a peek at the cover and back for 2011 - I promise to have a preview of one of the months in a few days.
Hats off to Jim Treacy, who chaired the selection committee and made a difficult tak as easy as possible for Paul Kessler and I. And a deep bow to Buddy Thomason who managed the layout of the entire calendar quite literally single-handedly.
Thanks for looking, more to come on availability. Now start making a list of all the people you'd like to present with one!
Roger
