Greetings all,

The 2011 CKCA Calendar is just about ready for release. I know many of you picked up a copy - or several copies - of the 2009 calendar. I sure did. They made great gifts, and the one I had hanging in my office provided a year-long talking point. It seems even non-knife poeple have an ability to appreciate fine cratfsmanship when beautifully presented like this.

As nice as the first calendar was, I feel this one is even better. We started out with 166 photos submitted of the work of 74 different makers. The selction process was exceedingly difficult - but the end result is an impressive asembly of 42 photographs representing the work of 41 different makers. This is a significant increase over 2009's 24 makers.

Here is a peek at the cover and back for 2011 - I promise to have a preview of one of the months in a few days.

Hats off to Jim Treacy, who chaired the selection committee and made a difficult tak as easy as possible for Paul Kessler and I. And a deep bow to Buddy Thomason who managed the layout of the entire calendar quite literally single-handedly.

Thanks for looking, more to come on availability. Now start making a list of all the people you'd like to present with one!

quote by Roger: "quite literally single-handedly."

Buddy, you have to admit, that is a good one.:D I hope your healed up enough for jokes. Hey, what are friends for?!!!

A big thank you to all involved! Lin

I actually converted a couple of friends into the knife world because of that first calendar. I sent them out as gifts, quite a few, actually, and got great reviews from friends for doing it. It was a superb publication and I can't wait to get this year's!

Anyone who is into knives - well, you should buy them to gift them, seriously.

Best,

Bob

EDIT: You guys on the calendar project are very much appreciated. I can only imagine the hours of work you all have put into the selection process. We all owe you our gratitude for not just the work, but the payoff, which will be educating more of the world about beautiful custom knives.

Greetings all,

I had one hanging in my officer as well and I hope many of our 2011 calendars fine their way to offices, shops, homes all over the world.

Though it's pretty cool for makers and collectors to have your knives depicted in calendars the real purpose of our CKCA calendars is to promote interest and bring new collectors into the custom knife community. So buy a calendar or preferably calendars and drop a few off at salons, Dr/dentist offices, accountant's offices or any public place where they will be hung and viewed by as many people as possible.
In 2009 we distributed almost 700 calendars in five countries.

We will hold prices same as our 2009 calendars and there is a 5+ volume price.

A big congratulations to our calendar committee on a job well done that will no doubt make more folks aware of the fine craftsmanship and beauty of custom knives.

The 2011 CKCA calendar will print and ship next week. I looked at every pixel on every page probably 10-20 times and clearly it's more refined and compelling than the '09 calendar. 2011 features more knives than '09 too. It's beautiful! I doubt there is anything else like this anywhere in the world. I could be wrong but I'm just sayin' ...it's a high quality custom calendar - handmade so to speak. And we all know, you just can't beat high quality custom handmade stuff. ;)

Thanks Buddy, and all others involved in this great project. A lot of effort put into this, with much good to be spread around. Appreciate it!

- Joe

Kevin Jones contacted them and they sent us 45 calendars Next Day Shipping so that we will have some available for sale at the Jerry Fisk Microshow. Kevin has received these calendars, so we are all set for the Show.

The remainder will ship today or Monday.

We will be keeping the same prices as the original 2009 CKCA Calendar.

Here they are:
