Just got back not too long ago from this year's ECCKS and was lucky enough to score one of my grail knives! So, here's the story (of course I have to give you the story :D )- One of the first things I did when I arrived was to head over to Rick Hinderer's table and put my name in for a chance to buy a piece from him at table (normal) price. When 3 o'clock rolled around, I eagerly waited with the crowd to hear who had won. After about 15 minutes....I was still Hinderer-less. Then, I checked out one of the purveyor's (Rich Mattei of Steelworks) table and saw a 3.5" XM-18 flipper with the Spanto grind- the exact version I wanted. I had seen the knife there earlier but wanted to wait until after the drawing just in case. When I went back, I was surprised it hadn't been snatched up yet. However, the $700 price tag was way more than I cared to spend (especially since it is lightly used). Anyway, Rich said that since he's seen me around before and I always stop by, he would lower it to $600. Since I didn't have $600 in cash, I pulled out the Emerson Micro Commander I had brought with me and luckily, Rich agreed to take it as a partial trade. So, after all was said and done, I paid $400 cash for it and I'm one happy guy! This is my first Hinderer and I LOVE it! The only thing ever standing in my way in the past was the price. For $400 cash (the knife isn't a huge loss since I never carried it much), I think it was a great deal considering they are $385 directly from Rick. Maybe I overpaid a bit, but like I said...I'm totally satisfied. Anyway, here are some pics of it along with my SnG (another of my grail knives). Enjoy!

Does anybody know if there are any differences between the generation three and four XM-18's besides the stop pin location?

Sorry, read in reviews! I have a xm-18 3.5" on order and should have it tomorrow. I will let you know how the detent is compared to my gen. 3 xm-24 i had for a short time. Not sure how well they will compare since the blades are so much different in size and weight, but i'll let you know!
