I didnt think that I would carry the forum knife much however when I got it and carried for the first time I found that it was the perfect package for my EDC use. I feel kind of guilty carrying a one off like this but it carries so well and the blade combo is perfect as far as Im concerned. In any event I have used it a lot, food prep mostly, cutting tomatos, onions, and other veggies as well as meat. I rinse the blades off, keep them clean and the springs and pivots oiled but otherwise I havent overtly tried to patinate the blades. Here is the result so far:

I wouldn't worry too much about it being a "one off". I am fairly certain that at 250 pieces, this is by far the largest run of a pattern with one specific handle material that GEC has made. If you own any other GEC knives, they are more rare than last years Forum Knife.;) I do understand that these have more sentimental value to most people here, myself included.

In any case, it looks to be coming along nicely. I agree that it is a good blade combination. We made a great choice as a group last year and GEC executed it beautifully.

...commin' along very knicely;) indeed, here's a pic of mine as well, these knives age well :)

Looking good. I haven't had mine as long, I've only carried it a couple times I'll post a pict as soon as I catch up a little.

Sadly mine is back at GEC getting the Wharncliffe blade tightened, it loosened up on me and not with hard use. The patina was much darker than my original pic, I suspect it will come back polished out...oh well, it will get its mojo back...lol!

An interesting statistic. I never thought about it. I do have GECs that are one of 50 and one of 25.
On my forum knife the wharny is patinering nicely while the clip is as fresh as a daisy.

I think I may be weird, but after a couple months carry, I polished mine back up, as I thought the process of patina development was so cool, I just had to watch it happen again. This one sees more use than last year's (2011) did, and is a great piece to EDC.

With the Bose/Case collaboration this year being very similar, I may have to jump on that one, as well. Of course, with 154CM there will be no patina, but it will still be neat.

I called GEC and asked about my BF knife. They havent worked on it yet and I had them leave a note with the shop not to take the patina off. Im not really worried if they did though, like Daniel said its cool to watch it come back and it sure doesnt take that long.
