I've been carrying the 2012 Traditional Forum knife outside of my 9-5 (sadly off limits at work). This weekend's task, while not too difficult is rewarding; brewing some beer. Dry Stout...think Guinness.

The grist ready for milling (yes other brewers, I know I don't need to mill my flaked barley)

Whew. Time for a break with some homebrewed Belgian Pale Ale

Looks great!

I'm brewing a Belgian Golden Strong today! I just built a copper manifold for my mash tun last night, can't wait to try it out :D

Rats! now I'm thirsty. And it isn't beer-thirty yet on the West Coast.

Nice! I always munch on the toasted barley when I am doing a batch - good stuff.

Thanks for the pics - the 2012 knife is truly a great companion!

best

Thanks for checking in guys. Great to see some more brewers and beer guys. Here's a few more snaps:

Kettle on w/ the hops soaking in the bag on the right. I use a plate chiller so I try to keep as much hop trub out of the wort as possible.

After chilling down to 67 degrees, we're done for the day. Now the yeast have to get to work

My favorite yeast for a dry stout is WLP007 Dry English Ale

Here are some in progress pics. We just got the boil started so there should be a few more later.

Wow...you're max'n out that mash tun. Nice folder too:thumbup:

I use a 10 gal round cooler for my tun and I think I've only filled it to the brim twice. I'm thinking about brewing a munich based IPA today and sending it into BIPA territory w/ some cafara. There's some hops in the freezer that I should use up soon.

Great snaps and sMashing context sir!

Just got a triple hopped beer on the go this morning!

Building up quite the stock pile for the winter season now

Includes a stout, a porter, honey beer and a spiced ale.....so far.

Torture waiting for it to condition!!!

You guys have got it sorted haven't you?! :D Great stuff, some really exciting beer stuff happening at the moment :) I haven't brewed my own beer for years, but I've drunk plenty of it :D And I did once work in a brewery in Sheffield :)

Here's a painting of the brewery and surrounding area about 1900. The brewery building looked just the same when I worked there in 1979.

Right, you've made me thirsty now, so I'm going for a pint! :)

Lots of great beer here. I've never given making my own a try but the home brew shown here sure looks good.
