Is 2013 a good year for Buck? I recently got my second 124 through a trade and it’s a 2013. Just curious!! any info would be appreciated!

As with all things man made there are some variations. Here is a google search on the 124 for your reading pleasure.
Here's an older one and a newer...

I have a Buck 124 Frontiersman made in 2012 (a re-introduction year) and it's as perfect as a production knife comes. I think you should be happy with your new knife. OH

Do you have pictures?

Wet dry sandpaper, lubricated with a light oil, and some elbow grease can make quite a bit of difference sometimes.
Mines a different year. Not that that matters. This is how it looked when I got it.

This is after working through the grits of wet dry sandpaper. Starting at about 220 and going to 1200, or maybe 1500. I don't remember for sure.

Or if you don't want to do it yourself, Send it to Buck for a spa.

O.B.

The Buck Spa will return it to you as new as possible, and with a great edge. If you don't have the skills like Old Biker has, or you just don't want to do it, send it in to Buck. OH

Sir,a query about these if I may.
Is the choil in your older version the way they were made then?
Or has the knife been slightly modified?
(I much prefer this choil shape than the current style.)
The choil shape on these knives is the one of two things that has stopped me getting one.
The other being the large squarish handles!(I have somewhat small hands).

I bought it used so I have no idea if it was modified. I have not paid any attention to the choil on others. I know there are photos of others the same age so search and let us know.
The newer one had squarish/blocky handles and I sent it to Leroy Remer and had him do some rounding on it...it's better now.
