Hi guys (and girls) :D
I am slowly preparing my table for the Paris SICAC show at the end of september. It will be my first knife show as a maker.
Here is a first batch of small wonderthings, as usual, made out of bamboo roots.

The first one, #139 is a remix. I’ve already mounted this blade once this spring and later became dissatisfied with the handle. So I did a new one.
Blade is by Ben Cardoso, 70 mm with a temper line, 115w8 steel.

Here is a picture next to the knives of the original batch:

And let’s see it in detail :

Next piece is with a blade by Sardinian maker Davide Steri, a 75 mm suminagashi sanmai with uhb20c, nickel and iron sides and an aogami edge. The shape is inspired by the traditional Sardinian Pattada knife blade. To me it also remind the shape of a bamboo leave.

Follow three blades by Cardoso, all in 11w8 steel with temper lines, in different shapes and sizes.
The treatment of the handles is in a more simple style than the ones above.

First knife’s blade is 65mm long, acid and gun blue treated.

Blade 70 mm, acid etched to reveal the temper line.

Last blade is 70 mm as well.

Thanks for watching :)

Wow. Those are incredible. The blade shape on 142 is especially interesting.
What is the carry method?

Needless to say, I enjoy your work my friend.....these are all exceptional but #150 is extraordinary!

Beautiful and extraordinay pieces.

Would it be possible to see a piece of the raw handle material you start out with? I´m not at all familiar with bamboo root.

Here is a WIP video I've made about a previous piece. You can see the raw material at the start

Thanks for your reply and your video is wonderfully done.....an amazing amount of work you do to make one of these pieces. :)

Breathtaking work. Where can these be purchased and what's average pricing look like?

None of these are for sale as I keep them to prepare my table for the Paris show. But if you wish me to include you in my mailing list for later updates, just email me your address.

Do you need my home or e-mail address?
