I have not been able to find a list of the 2014 Blade Show custom/handmade knife award winners posted anywhere, and I thought some of the folks who read this forum might be interested in this, so I am starting this thread to post them here.

I am posting below the winners that I know - but there are a bunch that I don't remember. If someone would either post the ones I am missing, or send me a PM or e-mail, then I will edit this post and add them to the list. And I will try to add pictures for the ones where I can find them or someone sends me a link.

And congratulations to all of the winners!

I've never attended Blade Show and always look forward to the awards and the few show reports that get posted.

Out of curiosity, who are the judges, same judges for all categories? Are there folks that are expert enough to know all the nuances of the different categories? Do any of the criteria change year to year?

The judges this year were Les Robertson, Neil Ostroff and myself(this was my first year of judging Blade, I have judged some small regional shows in the past, and judged at Seattle several weeks ago)....same judges for all categories.....I'd like to think we were qualified to pick a deserving winner....beyond that.....it is entirely subjective.

The shape on the Tembo Bowie is perfect to me. This is the first colab that really appeals to me. Oh, and Johns dagger... wow.

agree completely on the Tempo and John's dag is SIIIIIICK!

For his dropped handle design ?

Doug

Ring Dagger Handle....it was truly, awesomely exceptional......I'm still not entirely sure how he did it and it was damned near flawless.

Thanks, STeven.
Bet it was unique and beautiful, hope to see a pic.

I'd say the judges knew their job. Outstanding work by all the winners. Hard to believe but the quality has stepped up a notch or two from last year. Incredible. Its really cool that we know most of these artists from right here on BF. "Nice Work" seems an understatement but thats all I have.

The quality of the knives entered was exceptional.....first comment by both Les and Neil after we finished going through everything. It made the job of judging fairly easy(separating pieces that were clearly not in contention) and very difficult(picking a finalist in each category came down to some very specific details in most cases). Well done to ALL who entered this year, and I can tell you from personal experience that the judges were fair and impartial.

Congratulations to the winners. STeven, judging at Blade is a pretty special experience. I'm happy for you.

Couldn't agree more, on both points. STeven, you're a perfect candidate for that role.
