A few I'm bringing to Atlanta. Please pardon the iphone pics. I haven't had time to get to Chuck Ward for pro shots.
First up....a carbon fiber (a first for me) handle fighter with a 9" tsunami wave pattern damascus blade, and carbon fiber interframe inlays in the 416 stainless guard. Paul Long ostrich leg inlayed leather sheath arriving at Blade for this one.
Another fighter with a 7" long, wide body ladder damascus blade with some cocobolo that's looks like it's on fire with amber reds and jet blacks. A hot gun blued guard was a must for this wood. Beaver inlayed Paul Long sheath arriving at Blade for this one.
Something a little different for me....a carved Chinese dragon, stag handle with an 8" dagger blade of "Chinese New Years Fireworks" damascus, and "China" mosaic damascus guard and ferrule spacer. I normally don't like to see any of the stag bark ground off but it was a must for this project since ivory couldn't be used. This is going into a set of 36 different Chinese theme knives.
A simple stag keyhole integral w/ a 5" fine feather damascus blade. There is an integral hidden tang for the stag scales to utilize dovetailed mortised tang construction. A really nice Paul Long sheath with Karung snake inlay and his new flush belt loop.
Another integral keyhole with a 9" coarse feather blade and some stabilized sycamore left proud above the damascus. I really like the unique grain pattern on this wood. I put a little 24 carat gold wire on this one and Paul Long did his magic again with more Karung snake and a flush belt loop.
And last.....one of my two-tone signature "Texas Filligree" handles with a 13-1/4" ladder pattern damascus blade. The guard, frame, spacers, and pommel cap are all hot blued nickel damascus. The finial knob is hot blued 100 layer random damascus. There will be a matching belt buckle that goes with this that I still need to make. Paul Long tuxedo. Takedown construction.
Thanks for looking. If you have time stop by table 5-O at the Blade Show.
