The 2014 winner, should he choose to accept, is post no. 2 - bleh! Congratulations...

If you've been around here awhile you already know what this is about. For those that are new since last December, here's how it goes:

Our family "Christmas Eve Gift" tradition was that when you saw a family member for the first time on Christmas eve and spoke to them the words "Christmas Eve Gift" the targeted family member would have to provide you a gift on Christmas eve. Of course, this fails into the category of get me once, shame on you; get me twice, shame on me. So, you had to slip up on an unsuspecting family member to make this work. It was quite fun and some nice gifts were had and some "doggy" ones as well. But this is the inspiration for this giveaway and a way to honor the family tradition.

And, of course there were lots of "ties" with both parties speaking in unison; and ambushes too where two or more family members would lie in wait for an unsuspecting family member to walk in. Kind of like a "surprise party". One had to suspect that "white elephant" gifts were gaining popularity.

Before you get any ideas, "Christmas Eve Gift" only works for family members not forum members.

This will be my fifth such give away here on Bladeforums.

I have decided to give away a knife as a “Christmas Eve Gift”. It will be a traditional pattern, which I have already chosen, but will not divulge. The giveaway will run through midnight Wednesday, December 17, 2014. To be eligible for this giveaway, you must have at least two qualifying posts in this subforum in the last 288 hours (12 Days) preceding this post. Posts in this forum which indicate “I’m in” for a giveaway will not count as qualifying posts.

Read this carefully.
If you enter this give away and are qualified, you will need to check to see if you are a winner no later than Thursday morning and send me your mailing information so that I will have a chance of getting it to you on or before the 24th. You folks that are not in the USA, may still enter, but I cannot ship anywhere the USPS will not deliver and I can't guarantee that it will arrive before 12/24/2012. Indeed I cannot guarantee that it will arrive at all, but you are welcome to enter.

This is my way of saying Merry Christmas to my friends here in "Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades".

If you win the giveaway, it would be appreciated if you would post a picture of “the gift” here so the folks that entered can see the gift.

Keep in mind that God, the Father, gave the best gift to us that He could give; one we cannot hope to repay. So, I hope that you can find someone, or some charity to participate in during the season that will help someone that really needs some love and kindness. I can guarantee that it will do you more good than it costs you. There is no feeling like helping your fellow man (or woman) when they need some help.

One last thing, please do not open the gift until Dec. 24th.

Wishing “Merry Christmas” to everyone!!

Ed J

Wow, this forum never ceases to amaze me with its generosity! I'm in, thanks for the opportunity.

Your Christmas Eve giveaway has definitely become a tradition here Ed, and I always enjoy seeing you post the thread. Of course I always look forward to seeing who won, and to seeing their pics of the prize. I think it's more fun to see that at Christmas, rather than towards the end of January, so may I please enter in spirit, but not actually enter? ;) Much as I love to enter into the spirit of things, I'd really rather see someone else win. I'm sure the prize will be lovely as always, and thanks for your generosity. Good luck everyone, and Merry Christmas :)

Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for your generosity. Please count me in.

I'm in, and thank you for the opportunity.
*IF* I'm chosen as the winner, the "gift" will be presented to my 4 year old grand daughter (mom will keep in a safe place till she is old enough/trained to handle a knife).
Merry Christmas!

Very nice custom this one Ed. I'd like to be considered and this Christmas I will be donating food and old blankets to the local animal refuge, it can be an especially bitter time for animals at this time of year.

Thanks, Will.

NOT an entry, as I am already drowning in knives, just stuck my head in to say Hi, Ed! It's been too long.

When I first joined up your frequent posts and beautiful choices of knives helped fuel my initial addiction, and I followed in your footsteps with many of the same favorites. Glad to see you still active and posting. I hope you and your family are doing well this Christmas season and I hope to see many more of your posts.

I think I remember last year's, not sure. Either way, great idea, sounds like an awesome tradition. I'm in.

Look for a gaw in the near future from me.

This is my first Christmas at BF, so I wasn't aware of your generous custom, Ed. Your encouragement for us all to "pay it forward", especially at this time of year, is an inspirational reminder about what really matters. The surprise nature of what you're offering adds to the suspense! Merry Christmas to you, too!

But, this is NOT an entry, since I'll be on a plane fleeing the country on Dec. 24!
