Reaching out to you fine gentlemen on here to find out about one of these I saw with "2014" etched on the blade, it looks genuine from a "Emerson" dealer, but I was under the impression these were discontinued in 2011/2012. Could it be that the shop had used left over parts for a final run? Pics when I receive it, Thanks.

Which dealer was it? Most likely it's not a fake. There are some models that have been discontinued that can still be found very easily.

It's real, or at least by the facts you just gave. They were discontinued this year and that was our last run.

I just bought one a week ago...looks pretty much like an earlier one that I had several yrs ago.
Nice knife...very tight; will take some time to break in.

That' good to hear. Never questioned if mine were real before, didn't realize they were even discontinued. Lots of blade in a small package. The black one broke in nicely.

How pointy are the tips on the Commanders? That's the one thing that keeps holding me back from picking one up. They always look a bit blunt.

What are you using the knife for? The tips are sharp. Do you need the tip to be more pointy? If so I'd recommend an El Bandito or Gentleman Jim.

I wouldn't describe it as pointy but as EmersonRep said, they are sharp so they come to a decent point. If you can maintain the point while sharpening it will be good enough for most needs.

If you are looking for a pointy Emerson there are plenty others that fit that bill better. The two previously mentioned. If you want more belly with a good point try the CQC 10, CQC 7a, CQC 8 variants, and plenty of others.

I was just curious. I've seen photos where the Commanders looked just as pointy as a Kershaw Blur, and then others where it looked a little blunter. I imagine it all has to do with the camera angle.

the micro commanders tip is definitely sharp, the commander design is great for a small size. bodromarsh on ebay had some for sale for a real great price recently, but it looks like he is all sold out now.

It's real, and thank you for answering my question.......glad I got it now, if this is going to be it for them.

That's who I bought my CQC-7 and Micro Commander from. Good to deal with.

I LOVE this knife. I have small hands and the fit is better than any knife I have ever owned. I even like the thumb hole more than the disks. Took some time to break in but now in my pocket all the time.

Found a dealer dumping them on EBay for $99.00 and now that they have none left I am sorry I did not buy a 2nd one.
