Man, this knife got here fast. I ordered it on a Saturday afternoon. Monday I got an email that it shipped. Today I opened it and took a picture each step of the way.

The blade seems a little off center which is no big deal.
The scales are pristine and nothing is loose, chipped or unsightly. It looks amazing actually.

The blade is easy to withdraw with the thumbstud. A little stiff for what I'm used to but I'm leaving it until I totally break this thing in.

Liner lock engages early and smoothly.

I'm upsizing these things.

Absolutely psyched with this purchase from NationalKnives. They did a great job getting this piece here quickly. Emerson did a fantastic job with this knife. I couldn't be happier with it!

A True classic. Carry it.
I love the 7 but a Commander is on the way. I HAD to do it.

Cut it out guys... So much motivation to buy one is truly hard to overcome! Enjoy the super; and Rolf--so much for being done with buying! The ubr still haunts my dreams, but I had to put it on hold... Just picked up a Wetterlings Wildside axe (hatchet really). That fire wood doesn't process itself...

Still Rolf... so difficult. Also, the new Spyderco Tatanka caught me eye. Love the big folders.

Stay focused. I love Spyderco but my Emerson always bump them and everything else including custom folders.

I'll tell you guys, this Super Commander is amazing. I'm not babying it either. I used it to cut up an apple and a block of cheddar cheese. Extra sharp cheddar mind you. Oh yeah, I gave it a good beating.

I'm serious, this thing is an awesome tool.

Sounds cool, Newknif; are you planning on using it on things other than food--wood, for example? I use my CQC 13 for all things related to food... love it around the BBQ. The super 7 handles all other things... otherwise I turn to my Busse. Yes Rolf, you're right--If I stray now, I'll still want the super/ubr commander... and I've been down this road before! Newknif--how's the recurve, it must slice like a demon! Rolf--jungle commander?

I'll be using the Super for pretty much everything. It's how I use the Commander. If it's on me, I just use it. I never thought about dedicating one blade for just food but I can certainly consider it now that there are two. And yes, it cuts like there is no tomorrow and it's a lot of fun too.

Very cool, brother! Enjoy... And post more pics of it in action!

The SC has become one of my favorite Emerson folders. I'd carry it more often if Illinois wasn't so strict. At least I can use it for work!

Carry it and use it, newknif!

Thanks, man. ^
I should have it by Saturday. I will get up pix of the Jungle Commander and my newly acquired HD7.

Newknif - looks great, I'm sure you're going to love it. Make sure you get it in the EDC thread when you carry it.

Rolf - I can't wait to see them both.

Thanks.^
I was so glad when Ernest finally came out with a RIL, aka, frame-lock. I knew back then that the HD7 was a special folder but it took me many other folders to truly realize this!

I've had a new Super Commander myself for about a week or so now.

I used to dislike the shape, and dismissed it. What a mistake! It's a great knife, started out sticky but that's sorted itself out already and it unlocks like my other Emersons do now.

Congrats to a fellow new SC owner!

I'll tell ya, this blade isn't the best for food prep. I mean it's a ridgid 1/8" thick blade so there's no real finesse or anything. It's not like I'm going to cut deli thin slices off my broiled...london broil.

But for things that don't require a fine uniform cut it's awesome. Carrots, potatoes and celery for a stew, or onions and garlic and tomatoes for chili. Or for whatever I'm snacking on. Along these lines it'll be the top performer for me. I think you know what I mean and probably have way more more experience than me at it. Do you find this to be the case?

nk- fwiw, get yourself a nice kitchen, chef knife. Trust me. I used to cook in a hotel, back in the day.

Ive got my regulars that I use in the kitchen for food prep but it's just sometimes convenient and fun to use the Commander. Well Super Commander since yesterday.

This Super has loosened up quite a bit too. I've been openening and closing it alot. I can thumb flick that enormous blade open right now. I haven't touched the pivot at all either. This thing is exactly as it came out of the box in regards to adjustments. Awesome!
