Edit: The give away is closed. The winner is post 17 - GasMan1

You must be a BF member before July 25 (think Christmas in July) and must have contributed and participated in this subforum at least four times since December 25, 2018 and before today. I will judge whether or not your posts qualify. For example, posts of "I'm in" for a give away will not qualify. Note - Due to certain circumstances, I might not "qualify" for this giveaway myself.

Following is an edited cut and paste from last year's CEG give away just in case you don't know what this is all about...

I have chosen, but will not divulge the gift; the winner of the giveaway will be responsible for the "reveal" once they receive it. I will give you a hint - it's not a necktie or socks.

Our family "Christmas Eve Gift" tradition was that when you saw a family member for the first time on Christmas Eve and spoke to them the words "Christmas Eve Gift" the targeted family member would have to provide you a gift on Christmas Eve. Of course, this fails into the category of get me once, shame on you; get me twice, shame on me. So, you had to slip up on an unsuspecting family member to make this work. It was quite fun and some nice gifts were had and some "doggy" ones as well. But this is the inspiration for this giveaway and a way to honor the family tradition.

And, of course there were lots of "ties" with both parties speaking in unison; and ambushes, too, where two or more family members would lie in wait for an unsuspecting family member to walk in. Kind of like a "surprise party".

Before you get any ideas, "Christmas Eve Gift" only works for family members not forum members.

The rules are that you must have been a member of Bladeforums before the give away started and must have contributed to this subforum (Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades) at least 4 times since July 25, 2019. Unfortunately, I have to limit this giveaway to the United Sates in order to be able to deliver this by 12/23/2019. The winner is encouraged to take a photo and post to the thread so all can see what you have received. Good luck to everyone.

The give away will close 8:00 AM (CST) Friday, December 20 so that I can get this mailed out quickly. Please check the thread for the winner announcement on Friday morning so that you can PM me your address; it will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

Many of you will remember these past giveaways, some have won; enter anyway. Don't be posting anything like "Thanks for the giveaway, but this is not an entry." If you post anything in this thread, you are entering. Everyone is invited to enter, it is not limited except that you are a "regular" in this subforum and contribute to the discussions here. The "professional give away subscribers" will be rejected; you all know the folks I'm talking about.

During this holiday season, I would encourage you to look for an opportunity to help someone that is not as fortunate as you and give them a hand. It will do more for you as the giver than it will for the recipient, but then you never know when a simple act of kindness can turn someone around.

Wishing everybody a wonderful Christmas!

If you want to know more about this BF Christmas Eve gift, you can search here in the Traditional forum for the previous give away threads.

So good to see you posting again, Ed. You were one of my inspirations in my formative years of Case knife accumulation. I think I may have tried to duplicate about half of your collection, as we seem to have very similar tastes.

I don't need any more knives, so hopefully I won't win, but I couldn't pass up saying hello. Hoping you are doing well, and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

As a past recipient of Ed J's graciousness, I say "Happy Holidays" and thanks again, my friend. The Gerber is sharing pocket time with a gift from my wife, and it will taste wrapping paper in a week or so! ;)

I gaze longingly out over the pacific sea towards your great nation..i can't see it obviously as its too far away so not an entry...but was thinking it must a power tool or new set of screwdrivers....maybe a sporting biography?
Cheers and good luck to all.

Very kind gesture, and it sounds like it’s becoming a tradition of yours, so hats off to you. Hope you and your family can keep up your own tradition and have a Merry Christmas.
Here’s my favorite non-tree decoration.

Merry Christmas all. The backdrop for this 77 is a ceramic village my wife and I painted during our first several Christmas seasons. We stopped painting them many years back when we ran out of space and the pieces stopped being produced. I still enjoy setting the village up each year as it generates found memories of Christmas past.

Christmas is always hard for me; I lost both my parents during the holiday season, thankfully years apart. But this year I have family visiting and it's their first time in my neck of the woods, so it's going to be fun. We're all past the "need" for more "stuff" phase, so everyone's getting their shot at a place or event for Christmas. I hope everyone on this forum has the best of holidays! Merry Christmas, everyone!

I don't make a habit of entering many giveaways but this one is compelling for a number of reasons - It is a mystery (I like surprises - usually...), it epitomizes the Christmas spirit (which I greatly enjoy), and I've followed these threads for the last couple of years and they have always been fun. I surely hope that more folks get in on it.

We don't have many traditions but one that we have is that we always gift each other ornaments. Very simple but fun nonetheless. My wife gifted me the ornament (sans knife) you see below for last year's Christmas.

Merry Christmas, folks.

I love Christmas traditions, and Ed J's Christmas Eve GAW is a wonderful tradition I've entered each year I've been a BF member, starting in 2014, I think. Thanks for doing it again, Ed,:thumbsup::cool: and I look forward to the winner revealing the secret GAW present!!:) (The winners' photo documentations of opening the prize are amazing!:thumbsup::cool:)

Best wishes to all the entrants, and Happy Christmas to everyone on The Porch! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Very nice of you to do Ed. You have got the best of my curiosity with a surprise so I would love to have the chance. Merry Christmas!

This red case seems to blend right in with the tree.

What a generous gesture in the spirit of Christmas.

We're starting a new tradition this year. We recently moved and this year on Christmas Day will be attending the reenactment of Washington crossing the Delaware.

A guy at church this past Sunday said his Christmas Eve tradition is watching a movie of Washington crossing the Delaware. AnW wins.
