While their materials are still mostly “meh,” some of their new models are really appealing.

Pilar III in D2

CEO Flipper (AUS8)

Ken Onion Bona Fide (D2; new version of Field Strip without the thumbscrew)

And a couple of intriguing variants of existing models.

M16 TiNi (12C27)

“Budget” Provoke (Grivory and 1.4116)

It’s been a few years since I bought a CRKT (the original Pilar when it came out), but I think I’ll probably end up with a couple of these.

they need to make a 3.5-3.75 inch blade version of the Caligo. I would snag it in a heartbeat. Its such a cool little knife, I just prefer a longer blade!

I like that there's more D2 and Sandvik 12C27 than usual in their new knives, but they've offset it with more 1.4116 knives too. They came out with a "new" assist that looks like SpeedSafe paired with IKBS. What's the point of pairing an assist with bearings? I mean, other than ruining a good design....

I'm glad they made a budget version of Liong Mah's Lanny, but they made it assisted which is a bummer. I'm happy about the CEO Flipper too, but I'll probably wait to see if Blade HQ makes a green micarta and D2 version like they did with the original CEO. Hopefully they do that with the Lanny too.

Also is it just me, or did they miss an opportunity to call the CEO Flipper the CFO?

I like the PSD model but 8cr and assisted. The blade shape looks awesome the rest is not. I also like the small fixed blade they shoulda made that little thing 12c27

This one actually looks good with a nice size and pocket clip design.

But 8cr so no thanks.......no worries though, I'm sure its going to be big hit with the cabelas and walmart crowd

I don’t know why but I’m definitely getting a ritual.

Yup, something about a big Persian style blade... Plus those Micarta handles, it's a damn good looking knife. If only it wasn't assisted. I don't need it, but I want it.

Gee, that Pilar colour combination sure reminds me of something!
Oh yeah! The Viper Katla

It’s Vox’s third iteration of the Pilar. He is definitely in the “keep going back to the well” side of things. If it ain’t broke...

Time will tell, but I’d think an assisted bearing knife would end up with a much better de-assisted action compared to the normal result. It’s also interesting that their new assist has a bias toward close instead of open, which may make it less terrible than traditional assists.

This is yet another whiff for me with CRKT.

However cool a design, 8Cr13Mov is just not a good steel in 2021. It's worse when the price tag is close to a Civivi in 9Cr18Mov that'll cut circles around it.

Why is 5Cr still a thing in 2021? Good grief. This is the price tier where they should be using 8Cr13Mov. Yeah, I know. Quit being a snob. These knives aren't made for me. This is for the sporting goods sections at Dicks, Walmart, etc. It's still a shame.

Is that a $100 knife in AUS-8? Yeah...

It all depends on the detent. If it's biased towards close, they might not include a true detent. Their new product videos include an animation of the assist mechanism, and it looks exactly like SpeedSafe. Kershaw doesn't usually include a good detent on SpeedSafe knives, because they rely on the torsion bar to hold the knife closed.

Nothing really jumps out, I like CRKT and have a number of their products including the Pilar which is a great knife.

The only thing that might be cool to check out is the new field strip but the others are just meh, I do like the Cthulhu neck knife but jeez still with the 8cr.

I don't understand why they want to keep selling lower end steel as their prices no longer support that when companies like Civivi, QSP and others can offer D2 at such lower prices heck even Ontario.

More of the same from CRKT some interesting designs but with continued low end steel! Their fit and finish has been getting better over the years but the steel has not.

Really like CRKT. I know many love to put them down, but they continue to try some oddball designs.

I mentally compare them to Kershaw often, since Ken Onion became a major designer for them.

CRKT is all China production. They beat the absolute snot out of Kershaw's Chinese produced knives. No contest at all in terms of quality.

And who else (besides Cold Steel) would bring this to market?:

Not a question of who could bring that to market, but why ??? Seems there is a glut of bizarre designed knives out now. It's like companies are trying to catch buyers attention with more and more bizarro designs. Actually, this one is tame compared to some others.I like many of the CRKT models. Have 6-8 of them. Especially like the M402W (barlow style AO) that I deactivated. Oh well, to each his own.

I actually like this quite a bit for the price point. It's like a factory art knife for the budget minded crowd. A modern folding jambiya.
