Top 10...
What's your top 10 list of brands or categories of knives you're focused on in 2021.
Here's mine.
1. Benchmade - I love 'em and still have models on my wish list. I just picked up a Presidio II CF elite, its a great large light knife.
2. ZT - New models are hit and miss to me but I've found a few classic designs recently and love them. I picked up a 0301 on the Exchange, cleaned up and sharpened, its a great knife and a grail in my collection.
3. Spyderco - I was not real hot on some of the new stuff, then the PM2 Tanto dropped, its a great addition to the lineup. I also picked up a Manix 2 XL, nice large knife, its what I envisioned the original should be. Now for a Para 3 and a flipper. Also watching a video with Eric or Sal almost always gets me to buy a model I haven't tried.
4. Cold Steel - I added a few more to the collection after the news of the sale but there might be a few more models I'll watch for. Time will tell what happens with them, I do want to add a couple CS fixed blades to the collection
5. Houge/HK. I like the Hogue Ritter and have been looking at the mini, a Deka and an HK model. I also like the look of the new Ritter fixed blade.
6. Buck - 2021 has me looking at the Marksman if I can find a G10 version. I also like how buck has lots of unique versions floating around various dealers. I still need to pick up a 119 and a Woodsman.
7. SOG - I gave away my Terminus and need to pick another one up. SOG got that one right and I like the move towards more bar locks and better quality models. Still a few hit or miss designs but they are moving in the right direction.
8. Kershaw - the KAI budget line. I keep an eye on them more to see what deals I can get and then give away to friends. I also need to pick up a Knockout and a couple of the models for myself.
9. Real Steel - I haven't seen the new models from them but do want to pick up the CLB design and a couple others. The two Thor models I have a really good knives for the money.
10. Traditional classic knives of all brands - When life gets back to normal my wife will want to do some day trips around the Midwest looking in antique shops and craft fairs. I have found quite a few gems that just needed cleaning up. Kept a few and gifted others to family or friends. My personal favorite is a Ulster 2 blade jack I resurrected, it looks and cuts great now.
What's not on the list.
WE knives, Kizer and a few other Chinese brands that I just find "meh" or overpriced. Ontario and KaBar both are lacking in new fresh designs or options. I have a large Marine raider, it might be my last large fixed blade for a long time. Leatherman, I just picked up a ST300, added to my Core and Wingman I don't see a need to buy one of the newer Free models, a Wave or Charge could tempt me if I found a deal.
