The season has gotten off to a slow start for me but any start is better than no start. Everyone please feel free to post this years hunting pictures, from varmints to big ones!

I got out late afternoon and managed to find a single squirrel today, getting a good head shot from around 30-33 yards est. with the Kimber 22 and Tac 22 ammo. Showing off the AG Russell Gents Hunter in stag. It made quick work of taking apart the young male.

Love your knife grant. It’s as good as they can possibly come. Edge retention and fit and feel in the hand while working is perfect. 👍🏼💪🏼👊🏼
Hope to put it to use again today or tomorrow. With another elk tag to fill or on a bear.

I swapped scopes back to the Leupold 2-7x33 that I've had on the Kimber before, just couldn't seem to get along with the Burris compact 4.5-14 in the woods. I have tried multiple scopes and every time end up coming back to the 2-7.

Took this young buck Sunday morning with an osage selfbow of my own making and a cedar arrow and two blade Ace broadhead.
The GEC 74 slipjoint handled the field dressing, the LT Wright small fixed blade the skinning and the Opinel removed the backstraps and quartered the animal. I wish I had gotten a pic or two of the knives at work in the field but it didn't occur to me at the time so I arranged them on the countertop for a pic tonight. Last night we had venison tenderloin with mushrooms and onions, heavenly. :)

The only two scopes that have stayed on my squirrel rifles through the years are a Leupold 2x7 fine duplex and an old Weaver 3x9 rimfire. I've tried several others, but always go back to those two.

Got out again 3 weeks ago for a four day camp and hunt. This doe offered me a 12 yard broadside shot on the third morning that was a gift I couldn't pass up. We're enjoying
more venison meals than usual this fall/winter and thankful for that. :)

Thanks. Sorry friend but a Bic lighter was used to start the fire. :) The osage selfbow was made by me, I've been making them and hunting with them going on 30 years now.
It's a hobby/passion/obsession of mine. :)

It's a beautiful piece, do you have a page for your work?

I cheat and mostly hunt with flintlocks, once a year take the centrefire for a walk. I do stick to iron sights, but its still not the same as a bow.
