2024 Reboot - Winter is Coming! Time to break out your favorite jackets!

That looks like a pretty decent quality Jacket.
Pakistan is capable of good quality leather wear and there are a few manufacturers currently producing their jackets or having their jackets made in Pakistan that aren't ordering junk.

FIRST MFG is one of those companies.

They’re damn durable, that’s for sure. I had a Schott Perfecto my uncle gave me in the 80s that was nicely broken in and it lasted me another 15 years. I was a lot rougher on my shit when I was younger. I still have it somewhere but it’s pretty fubar (holey and tattered)

I got a newer First lined up. Just can’t bear to stop wearing my old one. Here’s the newer one once again with the help of my lovely assistant:

The ubiquitous black cross zip isn't really my thing, but there's definitely a good reason that they became popular in the first place.

This is the first leather jacket I ever bought, a 1991 dated unissued Chicago PD surplus jacket by Taylor's leatherwear that I ordered from sportsmans guide for $250.
It's an excellent quality jacket, nice steerhide with a good removable thinsulate liner, I hear their quality is still just as good today but they're imported from Pakistan now and I prefer American made.
By all accounts they're still an excellent value though and I wouldn't fault anybody who doesn't care where they're made.

Freenote cloth rider’s jacket. Waxed canvas.
Single most expensive jacket I’ve ever bought but man is it nice. Bad picture but you can see how the coat hanger is bending from the weight. 😁

Another favorite of mine is this early 70's suede trucker by Pioneer Wear out of Albuquerque New Mexico.

I know it's not something that can normally be seen, but this jacket has the coolest liner I've ever seen.

A member of another forum posted one and I thought it was so damn cool, so I immediately went on Ebay and found a near mint example in my size for only $100. I really lucked out there.

My only complaint about it is the lack of hand warmer pockets , but with some jackets they're just so cool that you're willing to make compromises in ultimate practicality.

I love the small details like that!

Here’s two of my favorites.

The Wilson’s jacket has thick, heavy leather, zip in lining. Feels like I’m wearing light armor. Got a very good deal on it. Nothing fancy, but solid.

Next is the Carhartt. My do all jacket. Working, camping whatever.

I've become very fond of this Schaeffer Outfitter's Wool Overshirt:

Here it's at the Grand Canyon in a snow storm. It's perfect by itself for a lot of times and here I was wearing an insulated vest underneath, its sized just right for layering. Yet it doesn't look like a tent by itself. It oozes quality when you put it on. I bought it at their booth at the NFR last year in Vegas and so was able to try it on. I'm normally an XLT and while they don't come in tall sizes the 2XL worked perfectly again without the tent deal.

Wore my drab All Around Jacket this morning from Weatherwool in the woods......Love it........Medium Weight Anorak for the PM........stroll............ Ralph is great........ Worth the scratch, meaning cash...No bitchin or itchin in this stuff...👍👍👍. Could run around. Commando and shirtless in this wool.....😉

I’ve watched quite a few of their videos. Very interesting! Ya see the one where the guy lays down in the bout frozen river?

Everyone should have a wool pea coat. My wife found this somewhere when she was out shopping. Fits great. Very warm and not too heavy.
Wish I would have discovered wool jackets and vests when I was younger.

Agreed and I have one. The wife has a ladies one by Filson. Tend to use mine for going out to eat come cold time. i bought it to ride in and never have.

It doesn't hardly get cold enough in the South for an honest winter jacket or coat. I usually make do with a zipped hoodie or if it's really chilly a thermal lined zipped hoodie. The local Tractor Supply had the Berne brand on sale a couple of years ago and I bought two of them and have been good ever since.

Clothing everywhere. And Axes...He sold axes for a while and still has quite the stock pile😜.......I was drooling...........Great guy......
The wool denim feels incredible too.......Looks cool as well...

That's not actually a Pea coat because it doesn't have the right collar and lapels or double rows of buttons, but regardless yes a thick wool overcoat is something everybody should have.

I'm inclined to call this a wool car coat, but it could be considered a form of blazer or sport coat.
