I bit. My only Forum Knife is the Buck elk 301 that I bought secondhand. I don't have anything by GEC. The only Forum Knife that has appealed to me since I've been hanging around here was the Bunny, but I didn't have enough posts and wasn't really watching the forums close enough for that one. And I like Stockmans. So, we'll see what all this GEC fuss is about. Chances are, I'll play with it for a week, put it away for a year, sell it, and buy another Buck 307 and be happier for it. :) But, we'll give it a try.

So after my post above, 315 315 reached out and offered to sell me an extra Bunny Knife he had laying around, new in the tube, for no markup over what he paid for it new! We hang out with some quality individuals here, no doubt about that.

I know this is the Buck sub forum, but I just wanted to say thank you to a great forum member. Being it is my first GEC, I’ll save my reaction to it for “The Porch” over in the traditional forum, but the short version is that the materials, fit, and finish are outstanding - but GEC could DEFINITELY use some lessons from Buck on sharpening. :)

Thank you again, 315, and Semper Fidelis, brother!

I've always liked the stockman pattern, but much prefer the medium size. The GEC 91 is bigger than I like to carry in my pocket, so I'll pass on this one. That'll be one more for someone who'll actually carry it.

I have a couple of GECs, but I gave up chasing them down. They sell them in such an odd way. Seems like 80% of knives for sale on the Forum are people trying to flip their GECs. It is too exhausting. It is bad enough missing a Buck Stealth Run but it seems every GEC release is a limited edition stealth run.

Not a normal poster in buck area but I do have a few. A little stockman is my travel carry knife. Dad carried one forever.

I agree with this. I bought and sold them a bit before Covid when you could find some at dealers even weeks after release. Combined with the fact that they just don’t make many that appeal to me. And the weirdo stuff that seems to be ran quite often, while quirky, doesn’t interest me. So, I just grab the forum knives and lately they been sitting unused also.

I bought one. Nice to get my hands on a GEC once in a while. I do prefer my stockman knives on the larger size.

Honestly the Viper forum knife is nicer than the GEC’s

That was a nice one. Just not a blade I like to have alone. I still carry it occasionally. Lionsteel and viper both make a nice knife. But some folks like more traditional….

Yeah I remember pre covid a number of models like sodbusters and 38s would sit on shelves for months. If there was an interesting pattern sold out on DLT you could google it and still find it in stock at a small retailer. But I agree, aside from a few, they don’t make much I like it and they’re impossible to get. They don’t even release a calendar showing what’s in the pipeline anymore.
It’s beyond me why they haven’t expanded to meet demand. Or at least make a few of the popular models all year round like a 15, 77, 66, etc. The prices are too much asking over $100 IMO.
