Just came in from Postie Mike! Love the Green Acrylic and the Orleans shield. The clip pull is about a 4-5 and has snappy W&T. The pen pull is about a 3-4 and a bit less snappy. Fit and finish is typical GEC quality. Looks like a keeper.

Thanks Ed it’s definitely a handful but easily handled. The clip blade is stout and ready for hard work. Sits well in the pocket too. Might have to look for a Northfield Yellow RoseThat's a looker Dansf fanatic . Looks more than capable to handle most any task at hand
Very Purty!! I've got one coming!! I hope it's as nice as yours!!!The osage orange is awesome! Great action and excellent fit and finish.
Beauty, but I don't like hearing that snaps are on the weak side!! I hope yours get better, and that mine are firm!!!Osage is the one for me on this run. The pulls are decent, but the closing snap is on the weak side on both blades. It is probably just gunk in there that will improve with oil flushes.
It has varied quite a bit for me. I had an acrylic 54 that had gator snaps on both blades.Beauty, but I don't like hearing that snaps are on the weak side!! I hope yours get better, and that mine are firm!!!![]()
Interested to hear how they are after flushing because 54's should have stout pulls.Osage is the one for me on this run. The pulls are decent, but the closing snap is on the weak side on both blades. It is probably just gunk in there that will improve with oil flushes.

If you like big and stout you have the right knife, the 54 and 86 are top tier. You guys have me excited to get my osage orange one this week! It will be my first GEC I've purchased. I wanted something with a good sized handle and this fit the bill.
Is the 54 as hefty as an 86?If you like big and stout you have the right knife, the 54 and 86 are top tier.

That has been my experience. Flushing it thoroughly improved it maybe 10%. I have also noticed that the pen blades are slightly off-center on many of these. All three I’ve handled are like this. The only 54 I have is an osage. It doesn’t have much snap half stop to close on either blade but especially the pen. I flushed it thoroughly. I also noticed that when both blades are open either blade will snap close nicely but with one blade closed, eg. normal operation, it looses all snap. This leads me to believe that the blades are just a little too snug.

Totally agree. My pen blade is also off center. I have been using and abusing it, maybe even more so because of the flaws. It is useful to have such big blades. This is probably my most-used pen blade. That said, I’m not sure how long this will be in the pocket, especially given the competition of the marrow 25…but that’s a story for another threadThat has been my experience. Absolutely gorgeous covers on the osage though. It’s going to be a hard user after I get a belt sheath to carry it more often.

You got a watch pocket and a regular pocket. Personally, I am doing the 25 in my watch pocket, a 35 beer & sausage in my regular pocket in a slip, and this 54 osage in a belt sheath once it arrives.Totally agree.
