Mr. Glesser:
I just got my Sharpmaker 204 and am wondering whether the ceramic sticks are within tolerance regarding warpage. On the gray stones I measure about a .025 gap at one end between flats (worst juxtaposition), and on the white stones about .035.
This product works superbly as a "V" sharpener BTW. Absolutely great! Easy razor edge. I'm just wondering whether the sticks should be flatter for some of the other advertised features.
If this is the best that can be done with kiln-fired ceramics I certainly understand. On the other hand, if you normally do better, I'd like to know. Thanks!
Also, on the gray stones a couple of the edges are a bit rough, as though some small scales or chips have popped off of them. It's small but easy to feel when sharpening. I find myself turning the triangle around several times until I find a corner with the fewest nicks in it.
BTW, I continue to enjoy my Calypso Jr. Lightweight. It's a wonderful replacement for my trapper and stockman. Long-lasting edge and sharp as all get out. The VG-10 sharpens quite easily.
Thanks again!
