I just received the Sharpmaker 204 video. It is very informative and Sal takes us from ancient knives up to the present. He also shows step by step how to use the Sharpmaker. Overall it is very nice.

I just have one question: Sal, I can't quite figure out what you are carrying in your RF pocket. Inquiring minds want to know.

Sal,
I agree...great video! I thought it was very well done, informative and I learned a lot from just watching it. I also loved your Kodiak reference....that really got our attention in our home.

I also finally got to see those great Spyderco commercials I have been hearing so much. Very well done.

Kudos to you and the gang for a job well done.

Jailhack, we must think alike. I was wondering what tool you had in your RF too! OK Sal, what Spydie is it?

For those who do have the video, a couple of quick questions. Is it the same price as the 204 without the video? And how long and in depth is the video and is it just a lesson on sharpening or does it get into other things like history or other products?

ET,
The video was free with the purchase of the 204...just send in the warranty card.

The video is about 30-40 minutes....I didn't itme it and the video doesn't say.

It is mostly instructional but to tell you the truth I got a lot more out of listening to Sal then I did the instruction booklet. He does go into some historical stuff, too. For example, he talks about how cutting shears actually work, how to use a straight razor, how a stone ulu found in Kodiak from an archeological dig was sharpened.

There are also 3 commercials at the end of the video that are extremely well done.

Overall, I feel the best thing about the video is Sal's vast knowledge of tools and sharpening is. I'm gonna watch it a few times.

I hope this answers your questions.

Kodiak PA,

Very well said.

Sal,

I know you are lurking somewhere out there,
we are still waiting for an answer

I watched the video twice. Loved it! Didn't care much for the other two people in the video, but Sal was great. He taught me alot about different edged tools.

The only problem is that now my wife has me running around the house sharpening everything!

Thanks, Sal!

The U.P.S. fellow just brought my Sharpmaker video this afternoon.I was about half way through it when my wife decided we needed to go to see a movie.I'll continue Friday AM. So far it's looking real good and Up to this point in the video it looks like I've been using it right. It sure gets some of those over tempered ATS-34 blades sharp,Where as I couldn't get them sharp with the old model 203.The back bevel angle sure helps this on the harder blades.
Sal does a nice job of demoing the Sharpmaker and giving a nice History lesson about our most useful tool the knife.

Great Presentation and a job well done Sal.

Thank you;

Sal,

Is the video available in formats suitable for other countries? I believe we use the British Pal system in Australia. I won't bother sending the card in if the video isn't going to work here.

My Sharpmaker arrived yesterday and I'm going to spend the weekend sharpening every knife in the house

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow....in Australia it's tomorrow already.

I got the video yesterday watched it last night. You folks did a great job. The other two in the video with you did not seem too enthusiastic about the whole thing.

A little video catalog at the end would have been nice. Hey, you can't have everything.

I never really liked Spyderco knives, I think I didn't like the looks of them. After I got my blue Native and the sharpmaker I'm seeing a whole new light. The Spyderco knives are really starting to grow on me, I've picked out about 4 that I'm going to buy in the very near future.
Thanks Sal

you make some very good products.

Jailhack - Sorry for not responding. I'm not sure what I was wearing that day. Probably a Military, but I'll "study" the video to spur my memory.

Thanks for the kind words.
