I did a quick search and I didn't see any results.

I noticed the 20cv Mule is available. Does anyone have any experience with the alloy?
I am looking to decide between a 20cv mule or a Maxamet mule.

Main uses will include daily cutting of cardboard, plastics, and weekend uses including yard work, fireside making of larger sticks into smaller pieces, and other various exercises.
- I am not worried about rust/patina as I care for my tools.
- I am proficient at sharpening, and have no concerns there.
- I will be making my own scales and sheath, so those are of no concern either.

20CV is essentially the same steel as Bohler's M390.

Thakss for the post, but I understand that, as is 204p. What I guess I am primarily curious about is if there was anyone who could comment about the real world usage of either.

Tend to chip, roll, thinness BTE on each, uses involved with their particular models, and how they may relate to or comment on my planned usage, et al.

I've been carrying the 20CV Mule for a while now. It takes a finer (better polished) edge than Maxamet, seems to me to be a less aggressive cutter and a bit less durable edge. The only reason I haven't switched back to my Maxamet Mule is because I have a Maxamet Manix LW in my back pocket.

Have you used the Maxamet Mule enough to notice a difference in wearing resistance and toughness versus th Maxamet Manix?

I have been thinking of the Manix as well, but I haven't been able to pin down a HRC value for it, only the mule.
I loved everything about my Manix 2's aside from the choil.

I haven't run the Mule and Manix side by side to compare Maxamet to Maxamet, no. I did use the Mule quite a bit, and I can't tell any difference between the performance of the Manix and how I remember the Mule working. That's why I haven't switched back to the Maxamet Mule.

As far as your planned uses, the Maxamet will likely stand up better to cutting a lot of cardboard, but realistically, you'd have to be cutting hundreds if not thousands of feet of cardboard to notice the difference. The rest of your mentioned uses would be pretty light duty for either of these steels.
