20CV on the way

Guess I'm becoming a steel snob, just ordered a Sheepsfoot 20CV 555-1. I was so impressed with the Ritter Grip's M390, I had to have more super steel.
Of course I like the sheepsfoot blade and wanted one for a while now.

Any of you 20CV users have any comment?

I think TKC is the latest to have one.:)

555 is a great carry blade I have a few in 154cm with Wilkins scales and love them.

I have the 555-1 too. It was between that and a Ritter Mini-Grip. I wish I'd have opted for the Ritter. I like the steel just not a huge fan of the SpydieHole, I'd rather a thumb stud. I did order some custom DOAT Black Micarta scales for it and it does look very nice with them on. I'm thinking it will make a great gift to my dad who just got out of the hospital after a 12 day stint there.

Congratulations, you've started down the slippery slope.... Next you'll be chasing even more exotic steels, thinner grinds, and custom maker knives to get you even more super steel with more cutting power and edge holding... :) I sold almost all my production knives for customs. :) And its been amazing how much more gains you get in performance.

Congratulations. I really like the 555 blade hole. I have a standard 154CM 555 (and a 550) and they both are very easy to open. My 20CV Grip is the standard drop point and it's one of my fav carries. I've only used BM's 20CV but they seem to have done a really good job on it. It's easy to sharpen, it's holds an edge quite a while in my warehouse and yard work, and I've had no edge damage at all from the stems, cardboard, tape, etc that I've cut. It reminds me very much of BM's M390 which I also like a lot. And I guess it should, since they're so closely related.

That is a great report dalefuller. Nice to hear it's easy to sharpen, some steels with the long lasting edge feature are a BEAR to sharpen.

I got mine in yesterday, didn't have chance to use it much, but it is super sharp out of the box(a toothy edge). The knife is well done, very clean, no ugly oversites:D. The colors fit this knife well, not too flashy, but just right. I will put it through it's paces later.
Things to do:
Reprofile edge
Test cutting
I may remove paint on clip and etch to make a gray color to match scales
Cut apple, if it doesn't slice apple well, I can't use it.

I was sorry to see that they changed the grind from hollow to flat saber. My older 555 is a ferocious cutter.

I believe the 154cm 555 is still a hollow grind. The rep i spoke with from benchmade said all 555s were a high flat grind except the 154cm would remain a hollow grind.

My 154CM 555 is a newer model and it is still hollow ground. It must be the custom shop 555s and the 555-1s that are high flat or flat-saber ground.
