Here's a 10/10 Ganga Ram Special made and marked by Durba -- about 21.5 inches and 3.25 pounds. The only thing wrong with this entire rig is some minor rust damage. Everything else is tops.

Because of this rust (I figure less than an hour with the sandpaper) we will discount this rig $50 and deliver it to your door for $145.

Call or email if interested.

I would love something like this, but my parents would yell, and scream, and I can't afford it for atleast a month. By then, the semester will have started, and my income not only reduced, but unreliable. :( :( :( I think my new signature says it all.

The GRS is my favorite of the large khukuris.:D
It consistently hits what I'm aiming at within a 1/4" or less!!!!
If I didn't already have 2 of these I would have had this one.:D
(2nd time I've looked at it.:))

Bro, you could have this blade back to original finish is less than 15 minutes. It will take the rest of us a little longer. The rust is very minor but I don't feel like dealing with it anymore. I'd rather stay in where it's cool and I can drink my Heineken in comfort which I'm doing right now.

Your favorite Yvsa? You're confusing me, :D. I thought that the 18" AK was your favorite. Then I thought the BGRS. After that the YCS followed by the DCC. Now your favorite is the regular sized GRS?

That is a real looker...

and it is a Durba to boot!:(

Too bad I have to pay for the swords first before I can get more toys.
Who ever gets this on will have a real winner on thier hands. The GRS has been one of my favorite workhorses for over a year. Good luck to whoever gets it. :)

Schweeeeeeeeeeeet! Listen, (Pause) is that the hallelujah chorus playing in the background, or is it the UBDOTD theme song? :D :D :D
The previous grins are not large enough. I'm sorry. All gloating aside, It was my first attempt at landing a UBDOTD and I was successful. I'll keep ya'll informed. I can't say I've ever swung a 3 1/4 pound knife before. It was down to an 18" AK or a GRS for the massive knife selection in the collection, and, in the short term, I think the GRS can hold down that spot. ( Yeah, I know, I'll have an 18" AK before its over and done with, but the state of denile is aways pretty this time of year :D :D

As is custom ( and only right) here is my cursory evaluation of the massive GRS UBDOTD that I picked up this morning:

My first impression was," Good grief thats the biggest heaviest knife I've ever seen". This reaction may be tamer with the more experienced Khuk folk, but I tell Ya, for a Newbie it's quite a shock to the system when you first heft a 3 lb. 4 oz Khuk. You know you read the size and weight and I really had no point of reference or scale really to go by. Whoa-Nelly  !

I took it out to my shop to give it a quick and dirty chopping test on some old well seasoned 2 x4's. These are heavy sap ridden almost heart pine variety, and holding the wood at a 45 degree angle, I was through it in 4 swipes. Cutting edgewise through the thickest part of the 2x4, the Ganga Ram Special really did well also. Cutting through in a v pattern the GRS would take out 3/8" With each two passes. I've definitely had harder chopping with a light axe than with the GRS. As far as splitting wood goes, all the wood that is a candidate for splitting better head for the hills because the GRS went through 2x4's with embarassing ease. I can't wait to try it on some green wood. ( Can't at my house-- only fruit trees:( )

As far as the minor rust goes, Uncle wins for Quality control. I'll probably start with 1500 grit and go up from there. The wood handle is girthy and fairly well figured ( Is the handle Satissal, Uncle?) And, Yes, Wal, It's getting it's first coat of Gunstock finish tonight!:D Nothing beats another wood handle to work on!

The scabbard was a little dry and tight with some small surface cracks, but nothing that the lexol treatment won't rectify. The karda is very heavy and nicely done, and the chakma has a slight pleasing forward bend which feels good in the hand.

Overall it is a rig that'll put hair on your chest and really develop those forearms! It is beautifully executed and Durba deserves his good reputation and a big "ATTABOY!" . Best of all, now my Malla won't be so lonesome.

If you already have a GRS, you know exactly what I'm talking about, and if you don't.....................Save those pesos, it's worth it!

Thanks for good report from the field, Craig. I think the wood is saatisal but I'm never sure. I'm not one of the woodchucks.
