Well I just purchased my very first Sebenza. A large 21 micarta inlays w/
serrations. I went to Cutlery Plaza in CA and decided to pull the trigger. Would
have prefered a plain edge but wasnt in stock and Im too impatient I guess.
This being the first time Ive ever handled a sebenza and all I can say is
"Wow." Having this knife is like owning a ferrari only you can put it in your
pocket. A tightly precision performance beast.

The knife is perfectly centered and it has to be because the tolerance is so tight
that if there is play then the blade would scrape the side of the scales. It feels
great in hand and the motion is super smooth.

This will be my perfect EDC once I get the blade swapped for a plain edge. Ill be
doing some research on how this can be done the easiest. Hopefully I can sell
my serrated blade and not have to pay too much extra for a plain blade.
Im just really happy I finally get to enjoy this knife after reading and watching a
million reviews on it. I dont think Ill ever let this one go:)

Looks great to me. I've been avoiding serrations for the last 5 or more years though lately I've been thinking I wouldn't mind having a user or two with serrations.

Yea. I actually do like Chris Reeve serrations but like the plain a little bit more.
This will most likely be my only seb for a while but if I had a couple of them I
would probably keep one with serrations.

Makes sense. I hope you find what you're looking for!

I would send it to CRK and have them fit it with a plain blade so you can switch out the blades.

I may be in the minority here but I would use it A LOT and then if you are not satisfied then send it to CRK for a blade replacement. That's just me. I would at least give it a chance. With that said if I was given the choice I would go plain edge. Might as well use it though!

Email me when your ready to sell that combo blade, my first Sebenza was a large classic micarta with a combo edge and I would not mind having a spare combo edge for my large micarta 21. :)

Just be sure that Chris Reeve does NOT sharpen it and I'll probably take it

Great! Will do. Im not planning on using this blade at all so Ill defintatley let you
know when I decide to send it to CRK to swap it out.

Just so you know, each blade is hand-fitted to exact tolerances to each individual locktab, so swapping blades is NOT recommended. The tolerances are so exact that if you swap out the pivot washers, CR puts in a new pivot bushing to make sure everything is still tight.

Part swapping in general has historically been major source for CR's warranty claims for knives not being in spec. They will sell you a new S30V blade for about $100, which will be custom fitted to your knife, and should give you a lifetime of service from CR for either blade you put in there.

Yeah if you want a plain edge, I would just sell the the combo and order a plain. If you send it in to have a plain blade put on, you could keep the combo and the have the option to switch them out. Your combo blade probably won't work well in someones else's seb. The serrations on the seb are cut real nice, you may find that you like them.:p

Yea I found out just how tight the tolerances are on my sebbie the other day
when I took the knife apart to see how everything worked. When i tried putting
it back together the blade was uneven and wasnt opening right. After about
a half hour I found out that the washers were not flush with the bushing so
it was throwing the whole knife out of wack and pinching the washers.

I contacted CRK and they told me for a replacement blade the cost would be
$129. When I do get it done Ill ask if they can give me a seperate bushing and
washer set for the serrated blade so if I do sell it they would be able to do a
conversion no problem.

If you replace the blade they will fit new washers and bushings for it and return the old ones back to you as well.
