Pictures are still trickling in. I'll post a cohesive thread with the individual and group shots once I get them. In the meantime...

Gyuto
210 mm blade
6 bar Merovingian damascus in 1080/15N20
Stabilized Koa handle with hammered bronze spacer

Beautiful work! I don't make this pattern much as it breaks my heart to see all of the waste required to make it. It sure is beautiful when done though.

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks Kris and Gary.

There's certainly a lot of steel dust on the floor by the time it's all said and done, at least a knife worth. Of course steel is cheap it's the 'waste' of time, fuel and abrasives that can get in your head. Then again twists really get in your blood so what can you do? As Adam says "It's really a waste of my time to make anything but damascus knives and damascus is a huge waste of time". In it for the love!

Beautiful knife Haley. That handle shaping is awesome. I know that's not as easy as you made it look. That's a pretty special piece of Koa too!

The execution quality, tightness and control of the damascus pattern; the stellar wood set off so beautifully by the understated longitudinal faceting; the visually blended transition of the "bolster" with the wood; not to mention the overall proportions and blade profile--just a bounty of things going right with that one. What memorable MS blades you've graced the knife community with, Haley! Your work deserves every endorsement conferred by the MS ranking and then some. Thanks for sharing this and all of Caleb's superb images of your work.
