Due to procrastination I've missed out on the previous 212 offerings. It is an interesting little knife but I wasn't sure what I'd use it for. The latest "Limited Factory Run" gave me another opportunity and I didn't wait to pull the trigger. I went with the D2 version. I have a 104, 119 and a 120 in D2 and I like them. The 104 gets a lot of hard use and it has performed well in this coastal rain forest environment. Plus it was nice to add another 'Ranger' to the collection

Came with a 105 sheath which is an improvement over other sheaths I've seen this knife issued with.

If it becomes a regular user I will alter or make a new sheath for it.

I was glad the handle was 105/117 sized. That is about as small as is comfortable in my hand.

I'm not sure it will replace the 117 for camp/hunting chores. It fits my hand better than the 113 Ranger Skinner and the 212 Fixed Ranger is 3.7 ounces (6.2 total w/the 105 sheath) which is a full ounce lighter than the 113 (4.7 and 6.6 in its excellent sheath). My EDC 112 Ranger Pro is 6.4 ounces and goes along unnoticed in my watch pocket. The blade has an very nice sweep to it which might make it a good skinner, though I generally prefer a longer blade for that - probably some lack of familiarity bias and experience in that opinion

All and all, another nice Buck in the collection. Of course every visit here whets my appetite for something else I didn't know I needed. Thanks Y'all for enriching, educating and enabling the fun addiction of collecting and using Buck knives.

Good solution Lesknife Lesknife . Here it is in a new style 116 sheath. It does not fit in a old flap style 116 sheath.

Buck could easily have a run of these made. They already have the pattern. Be great for all the Capers out there that need sheaths too.

Such a great knife deserves a good sheath that fits it appropriately.

I was going to start but the heat wave is still here. I’ve got a large pine that broke in half and i started de limbing and damn did it get too hot. The sap is running out like water. What a mess.

I want to make a run of 212 sheaths. Assuming a slip sheath is preferred vs a snap retention?

Makael Makael I wish we were all closer. It would be fun to all show up at your house and help you clear that tree.

I had envisioned a miniature 124 sheath for the 212. I have one of your slip sheaths, and it is very nice.

But I like the one you made for my Randall better.

If the blade was longer a 124 sheath makes sense. The handle weight wants to switch places. My instinct wants to put the strap at the top of the handle instead of just above the guard. I’ll have to try again.

Thanks Mike. The 116 sheath actually works great for the 212, so maybe a copy of that would be best?
