It was my privilege to author a book on KA-BAR's 21st Century Fighting Knife project which is published by Paladin Press. As the senior field consultant for the 21st Century Fighting Knife project I was pleased - through the writing of this book - to set the record straight and to give due credit where such credit was due.

Bob Reinschreiber, the overall KA-BAR project manager and since retired from KA-BAR Knives, sent me the following letter on January 21, 2001. A copy is on file with Paladin Press.

For the historical record:

Dear Greg,

I have just finished reading your excellent book about KA-BAR fighting knives and thank you for dedicating it to me - also for sending me an autographed copy.....

You have put aside any thought that this knife [the 21st Century KA-BAR Fighting Knife] did not receive the recognition it deserved - you took care of that!

If there is anything I can do to add to your historical research please let me know.

With kindest personal regards

Bob

'Nuff said.

That is awesome Greg. I haven't read your Ka-Bar book, though I will acquire a copy sometime. I think it is kind-of like the Randall book. If you don't read it, you are really missing otu on a LARGE chunk of knife history. That ka-bar style knife sure as made a big impact.

Congrats, Greg! very cool...

I have a whole bunch of book buying from Paladin to do -- the ones with the author name "Greg Walker."

Best,

Brian.

Greg.
hello, I have the KA-BAR book, and also your two other books on knives
I started to collect the KA-BAR couple of years ago, starting with the commemorative models,
after getting a book on Bowie's by a well known knife maker, his article put me of the KA-BAR. and for a time was thinking about dropping them from my collection, I also collect the A/F dagger.
anyway after getting your book on the KA-BAR, that changed my mind for sure.
I am now saving my pennie's to buy the 21 century model.
great knives. along with your books.
thanks.
steve.

A good read does not even BEGIN to describe it...a well balanced blend of ALL that is and has been "Walker", in the context of Ka-Bar and its legacy.

Awesome book!

The KA-BAR is a great, great knife and has been for many years.

Sadly, some time ago a certain commentator(s) were successful in publishing balled up columns on the knife that hurt it's reputation as a quality private purchase or issue blade.

However, KA-BAR has always managed to overcome its critics and the 21st Century Fighting Knife is but one example of this.

Again, great knives and a great company.

I have a Vietnam era USMC KABAR that has been to hell and back (literally) - it was a beater long before it ever even came to me - takes and holds a razor edge - I've used it as a knife, prybar, and hammer on innumerable occasions - It would be among the last 2 or three knives I owned if I had to let them all go.

It is a F.U.K.-'er in the best sense of the term.
