so I picked up this chain that UB had a deal on. what I wanted was a replacement for the 2 siraupi that were stole from me awhile ago
this was not the same and I didn't like it much ....at first I have had time now to work out with it , and it moves very well its a bit more weight forward then the serp but the learning curve is short to nominal . what really sold me was the cutting ability wow!!
you find your self saying "did I do that "
I started with Tatami cutting (as I do with all my big knives and swords when I re profile a edge)the chain passed easily
then a few hours ago while working to clean up the garden I had to prune back a 120 yo oak tree that had been allowed to grow wild for 5 years there were new grow the limbs 2" and 3" around these fell away easily with a single stroke exactly like the goza cutting (I use 3 Tatami mats rolled) now true I am built like a gorilla wearing a human suit and have practiced with a blade in my hand foe the past 14 years but "3"s of #@!$ing oak makes me kinda feel like a superior human or a really lame god

any one have a 22" kumar chain they wanna sell ?

I've got a 21 3/4" 28 horn-handled chainpuri by Kumar, but sorry, I ain't selling unless things get far worse than they are now.

This is one of the more dextrous khuks for it's wieght and size. I had a tough time to keep from buying another chainpuri when they went on sale. I still want an 18" inch one of these (hopfully by Bura with that thin Bura edge--which will be a somewhat different beast). The bevel that Kumar put on it was flat and narrow enough to convex nicely by hand, so the one I have is a tough worker that seems more refined than a sirupati of the same size.

Bill may haved bitched when the kamis cranked out a bunch of chainpuris that weren't ordered, but to me they are one of the more interesting models. Good luck getting what you want.
