Hi, I want to ask your opinion on using a 22 magnum. What fur friendly round do you use for grey foxes and kit foxes?Ive been usin 30 grain vmax called in 3 kit foxes 1 at 30 yards shoulder shot drt baseball sized exit hole. 2nd one 110 yards also baseball sized hole 3rd shot in the chest facing me at 25-30 yards no sewing job had to be done.

.17 Remington is great for fox, no exit hole. I use .22LR when they are in a trap...

Use solids. The choice between the 22LR and 22 WMR is mostly about shot distance. If you are taking 100 yds shots, then I would use the 22 Mag. But I would not use hollow points or any kind of explosive round.

Agree the solids are the way to go if you are concerned about pelt damage. You may be chasing them a little farther though.

That .22 mag will do almost 'too much' on small game. Quite an amazing and versatile round! Go with the solids for your application.

Go with solid point bullets and place the shot well with the 22mag. That will get that exit hole problem under control. Expanding bullets of any sort when you're trying to preserve the pelt do bad things.
