Is .220 thick enough for a hard use knife-- pounding through logs & Chopping?

I'd say yes. When I had a cg BATAC it did some serious prying. Perhaps someone with a ZT BME could chime in.

I use one of my SFNO (sabre) this way all the time. It is my main camping knife and batons, chops, cuts, you name it with no trouble. I actually think 3/16th INFI is tough enough for anything you can throw at it (though it might be light for chopping), so certainly .22 (~7/32) is.

the CG batac was .187... the LE is a hefty .250" ... I like my Busses .250"+++ :)

I'd say say so. Like some others, I wouldn't even mind 3/16".

I've used a tramontina 18 inch for that(measures 0.08" thick), and yeah it kinda is like tinfoil :p

Good Lord yes! It would be enough of about any good tool steel, it's plenty strong with infi.

As long as you are not chopping anything tougher than cinderblocks I think that is thick enough

.220 is definitely thick enough. .187 is thick enough for most stuff. For example, a .187 SJT would make a really nice woods or SWAT knife, arguably better than the .220 HOSJT if you are putting miles under it.
There's enough, then there's more than enough, and only you can determine what is what for your purposes. A lot of guys go with more than enough since hoping and praying aren't operational terms. Try to plan out what you'll be facing with your knife, and pack accordingly. Just because a .416 Rigby can kill a rabbit doesn't make it the best choice for that purpose :D.

I know i am in the minority with this but I prefer my INFI (hell most blades) between .187 - .220..... Dedicated choppers I do like .25+

You mean to say that you dont hunt rabbit and squirrel with a .600 Overkill. Sheesh I thought everyone did.

But that would be fuuuuuuuuuuun!!! Much like owning a FBM and bashing stuff with it. If you got it might as well use it:D.

I use 3/32 steel for my Nessies, and I've batonned them through hickory no problem.

So, .220 will likely suffice.

as much as I respect my fellow hogs, they're leading you astray. you don't want to use anything less than .27" for those sorts of tasks, and if you have any INFI thinner than .25" you should send it to me at once, before you break it.
