Yesterday I was over at an older friend house. This is a fellow who tells of when he went to Walden high school he used to stop on the way home at Westermans Hardware store where the local knife companies would sell in bulk there seconds and rejects these could be found in a large bowl in the store ( Bone, Cell, switchblades every manner of model ). They all had one price 25 cents. Unfortunately a few years ago he was robbed and his collection of 25 cent knives was stolen. As we were talking he asked me if I would want something he had lying around. I have included a picture of it. It is a brass printing block of the model 2202 Schrade Cutlery CO jacknife. ( NOTE These knifes were the forerunners of the Schrade Walden 2-OT (clipblade) . The 2202 had the same top bolster and bottom bolster as the 2-OT ( which I have shown pics of in prior postings, these were one of the few OT models in smooth bone and also a few in jigged bone ). The 2202 however was made with ebony handles. The bottom bolster of the 2-OT is marked OLD TIMER on the bottom bolster the 2202 is marked SCHRADE on the bottom bolster.
I have included a pic of a 2202 as well as some shots of the block. These blocks were usually made in rubber. This one is in brass which is rare. I believe this one is in brass because it was used in a popular ad in which the picture of the knife full size was printed with whatever wording went with the ad and it was used to print with more than most so was made to last and be especially clear.
Now here is my quandary. I cannot remember where I saw the ad. My personal library is quite extensive and I am fairly sure I remember seeing that profile. However I cannot find it. It might very well appear tomorrow or never considering the amount of written material on this subject that I am surrounded with.
For these reasons I decided that perhapes someone out there might run across it and since we have not done something unusual in a while and since this is a Schrade forum disguised as an inunendo semi X rated forum, I would offer a small token to inspire participation in the search for this ad.
Therefore it is my pleasure to offer to the first individual who finds and notifys me ( send a J peg to me ) or posts a pic of this lost ad. I am offering a reward of one brand new ( in the box ) SCHRADE OLD TIMER USA 12-OT which is a one bladed peanut. GOOD HUNTING, LT
