I tried the 223 to 22 lr adapter from mcace with a borrowed 1-9 twist rate mini 14.

40 grain was a 6 inch group at 25 yds.

put in the 60 grain sss rounds. Sub 1" group.

Took it out to 50. Had to aim high first round was a placement round. Picked a new poa and put 4 shots with the sss 60 grain rounds into roughly 1 inch at 50- The barrel twist rate stabilizes them! Just off a normal rest, no bipod, I didn't pad the gun beneath the buttstock, and I had three hours of sleep.

they sounded quieter out of themini then I remember out of my 10/22. Will have to test that hopefully when a lot of shooters aren't there for noise.

yeah, my 1 in 16 inch twist regular rifles don't really stabilize them. At 25 I can tell they are hitting somewhat sideways.

I picked up a box of 20 grain fmj for the 17 hmr

it would be 2.97 lbs for 500 rounds on the scale

500 22 magnums 40 grain bullets: 4.57 lbs
500 22 long rifle 40 grain bullets: 3.67 lbs
500 shorts 30 grain bullets: 2.77 lbs
500 cci cb longs 30 grain bullets: 2.97 lbs
500 winchester 32 acp 71 grain bullets: 8.44 lbs
500 brown ramsets plus 55 grain buckshot: 4.375 lbs

500 60 grain SSS AGuilla rounds: 5 lbs even

That is pretty cool. What is that adapter mad out of and how do you reload it after each shot (I'm assuming it doesn't go flying).

Ace makes them out of blued or stainless steel. No, the adapter doesn't go flying away. After you shoot, you manually cycle the bolt to remove the adapter, you take a stick and push out the spent cartridge along with the transfer plug.
