1) Is the 239b-s a benchmade balisong??
2) If so, does anyone have a pic??
3) When was this knife made??
4) How much would this knife be worth??

I was wondering how exactly Benchmade numbers their balisong models...is it 2 or 3 digit?? I was under the impression that it's a 2 digit thing.. 40, 35, 42, ..etc..

Thanks alot guys...

The model 239 from what i know was a budget balisong that they imported. I think the 239 looks like oune of the surgical steel jaguars. As for the B-S , no idea what the B is for, the S maybe for Serrated?

the 239 and all 3 digit numbered balisongs are for the most part imported international series and economy zamak Benchmade Balisongs. B stands for black powdercoat handles liek your Bear balis. S is for serrated. For the prduction balis. 40 series means 4 inch blade likewise 30 series is for 3 inchers.

Keep in mind that these balisongs although copied by Jaguar have thiner handles.. don't make adiff just wanted to say

So what kind of price could I expect to pay for one of these??...let's say NIB...

is the suggested retail listed on Clay's site MSRP when the knife was out and about, or now??

I was (and am) considering one for $85 NIB, but i'm dead broke, and would probably opt for another $30 and get a 42s. You may be considering the same one if your looking to buy from another forumite.

I have come across a few NIB and they wanted $100 each for them. Right next to it, was a used one that they wanted the same price for. The tang pin had worn into the handles so bad that the handles touched when open, and it would not lock open. On top of that, it did not lock closed very well at all. Yes the pins were pretty strong, but the handles wore out like a Jaguar.

You are best off holding out for a Model 42. Yes it will cost more, but you will get more balisong for your money.

Hope this helps

John

Yeah, I have an order for a 42S from onestopknifeshop, but I'd like a benchmade to flip around in the meantime and for practice...i'm really sick of these jaguars..
