Well after hearing for years about how great the show 24 was I decided to buy season 1 on DVD and I must say on the whole I was bored and disappointed with it. Maybe it just works better when you have to wait a week to find out what happens I don't know. While it was occasionally entertaining for the most part it was boring and I wanted to strangle that whiny useless daughter of his, wished the had killed her off instead.
On that note why the hell if he is such an uber soldier didn't he teach his daughter any self defense skills? That said, while I wasn't that surprised by many of the plot twist in the show I was caught totally off guard by who the mole was.I will have to give a thumbs up to Dennis Haysbert as David Palmer he did a great job and I loved the character although I think he turns bad later. Right now I am on the fence about giving season 2 a try is it any better than season one?

The first season was generally good with a few minor annoyances. The daughter/mother stuff was occasionally tiresome. However I didn't find the daughter that annoying, actually she was nice eye candy. lol.The thing that grated on my nerves was that the daughter gets captured and escapes a half a dozen times! Also personally i found the whole revelation regarding the identity of the mole to be a let down.

I'm lucky in that a relative of mine is a 24 fanatic and has all the boxed sets. So i get to see them for free.
Generally I prefer not to watch episodes as they are broadcast, i hate commercials.lol. Usually i buy/rent/borrow complete seasons of tv series and watch them over the span of a few days or a week.
Why don't you just rent the 2nd season instead of buying it?

I watched Season 1-4 on DVD over a week. The other seasons I watched one episode a week. When you watch one a week you see how crap some episodes are, you really don't get that feeling at all when you watch like 5 in a row.

I thought season 1 was probably the best with 6 being the worst(even the writers/producers said they were reusing old stuff). 2 isn't bad, didn't like 3, 4 and 5 were OK. In season 1, they decided Nina would be the mole half way through, that's why it was unexpected... the writers didn't even know. :P Also, the final episode was leaked so they had to change it before it aired, that's why you have the second ending on the DVD. Season 7 is meant to be completely different, likely there won't be a CTU or set in LA.

If you didn't like season one I probably wouldn't go out and buy anymore. Rent/borrow them definitely because there's bound to be one season you'll like.
