Compared to the Storm II which I use to hack branches and vines off my hiking trails all year long. Clip is smaller and seems perfectly sized for the smaller lighter knife.

Frame lock is the same, Kershaw seems to have aced it with these budget folders and a great frame lock. The Storm never loosens and is tough as they come. I expect it will be exactly the same with the 2445.

The trac insert is A LOT less abrasive than the Storm's, which most people will like better, as it's easier on pockets and your skin over prolonged usage.
Blade shape is more for utility and should be useful for everyday chores more so than the Storm II. Also the handle feels great and you have better control for detail work than the bigger Storm. But for chopping I believe the Storm will best it.
I compared it to my Storm II because it's my heavy duty knife for woods use and the 2445 is going to be joining it maybe even at the same-time, they are a perfect pair.
Overall it opened a bit smoother (maybe because of the lighter blade) and I really like it a lot! Thanks Thomas for the chance to check out this new well made great value folder.

Outdoor picture of the pair behind my house, at the very beginning of my daily hikes with my 4 dogs. I carried them both out there clipped in my pockets and the 2445 seemed to be clipped tighter than the Storm, even though the Storm's clip is bigger. Kershaw did an excellent improvement in that area, IMO.

Clip side, this picture I lined the blades up carefully and it shows the size difference better. Like I said the 2445 is going to be handier and and better blade shape for close work than the large Storm 1475, but for chopping the Storm is gonna be the champ, IMO.

Nice review Jill! I was planning on comparing it to the Storm also. They just looked similar to me when closed. Very nice pics, too!

Perhaps tomorrow the mule will come up the holler and bring me mine.

Don't reckon that 2445ST got diverted tO cLeveland do you...............Good comparison JJ. Btw, did you ever get the Tyrade, and what do you think of it?

I got the Tyrade and it was a very nice classy knife, but I sent it back because it had small marks on both sides of it's blade. The handle seemed to be barely rubbing.
Thomas said he'd check and see if any were left in the factory,(swap it out for a perfect one) but I received it on the weekend and the dealer only wanted to refund the money, not exchange it.
So I sent it back, as time was limited to do so for a refund and I got a JYD, with the composite blade instead and I like that a lot too.
Maybe some other time for the Tyrade, can't win them all.

Jill, nice review. Your last 2 pictures really show how nice the grind and blade shape on the 2445 are. Good job.

Awesome pics! Thank you very much for sharing.

When the Storm was released a few years back, I was very surprised at how cheap it's price was considering it was US-made and a FRAMELOCK to boot! I really wanted to get one but that recurve was the deal-breaker for me. Still, it was a fine knife for EDC.

Now, the 2445 is even more of knife person's vision of a handy EDC! Got to hand it to Kershaw for manufacturing functional and well-made knives at a price point even non-knife knuts can't ignore.

Hey JJ, I posted the Tyrade question before I checked the other post to see your answer there. Sorry for making you answer twice!:o:)

Thanks for posting the pictures Jill.

Now I see another Kershaw I want to buy.:)

Looks like you have an older full-flat ground Storm II. I think I read that the earlier Storm IIs had rougher insert material.
I recently purchased a new Storm II and there is no roughness to the grip inserts.
