Vendor has boxes (100s of Kershaw pieces, mostly silver Leeks) of seconds at knife/gun show at the Expo on the cheap. He clearly states that they are 2nds. Most, but not all, of the knives were marked with XXX on some part of the knife. He was doing brisk business.

Defects were not readily visible on many of the pieces. Some of the visible issues were uneven grinds, bent tips, opening and closing problems, blemishes, scratches and even some rust.

What are the defects you can't see? The vendor had no ideas. I understand that Kershaw has held a parking lot sale of these items in the past. I wonder if that will continue. Love those Ken Onion Leeks. Still haven't bot that Blue Bump.

Man I think the leek is great. Its thin though..I want to get a collection of them like some talk about having. I especially want a polished one a gold colored one and a black one. I would lke to put handle material on the non framelock side for looks and maybe improve feel. I don't have a Leek casue I don't like the widely avalible standard and the rainbow one. I DO have the blue Bump, Its great! ;)

I figure that if I procrastinate much longer that the blue Bump will just not be available. Probably locked away in collector's vaults. Is the grip slippery, smooth or just right?

Didn't I read, Blade mag. I think it was, that Ken Onion was quoted saying that Kershaw had plans to update some of his models with more modern blade steel? I am waiting for more options with the Leek. Your idea of modifying the smooth scale is brilliant. The Leek could use a more sure grip. Perhaps you could do to the Leek what Doug Ritter did to the Griptilian.

best,
