I know the warranty is awesome, but how will the new lock design wear. It seems to me the much harder ceramic ball will wear into the tang quite quickly.

I just got a new 25 in a trade I was unsure I would like the finger cut outs but the design is awesome I love the way it feels, it is also the smoothest knife I have ever opened, I know due to the ceramic ball. The worry is the wear on the tang.

So who has one and how is the tang looking on the 25 or the zann after a lot of use?

I have carried an Umnumzaan for years and the lock has stayed where it settled into for a long time now. You do get some "peening" on the blade tang but the blade is pretty hard too so it's not going to throw anything off any time soon. One could also expect there will some amount of work or strain hardening going on as well so any wear over time will be at a minimal rate.

I too have had a zaan ( one of the orginials ).....for years and never had an issue. There is the mark on the tang from the ceramic ball, but has zero lock issues of any kind. Its just as tight as the day I got it.

The ceramic ball lockup/detent is Not New. Its been on the zaan since its beginning. Its just now CRK incorporated it into the sebenza as its been proven to be reliable over time.

Same. I have one of the older ones that is used hard and put away wet. Lock hasn't moved in years.

The ball does peen a "dent" into the tang and it makes a fine groove in the tang as well but I've opened and closed it countless times to get to that point and it still locks up like it did on day one.
I've also been using my 25 a bit and it seems to be exactly the same.
